Medical and Healthcare Study in China

Medical and healthcare study in China is a credential or a visit that a named school or hospital agrees to in writing. It is not a seat DragonTrail can reserve, and it is not permission to examine a patient or to practice at home.

Information checked 29 October 2026 (Asia/Shanghai).

DragonTrail has no medical intake, no hospital partner list, and no tuition of its own. Figures on this cluster are what 上海交通大学医学院, 上海中医药大学, and 浙江大学医学院附属邵逸夫医院 published, plus two CUCAS cards, read on 29 October 2026 (Asia/Shanghai). The 2026 application windows on those school pages had already closed. The World Directory of Medical Schools did not return a page. Campus China did not open.

At a Glance

Who this is forA person choosing a degree, a short course, or a requested hospital visit. Not a patient booking treatment, and not a clinician already licensed to work a shift.
CredentialSeparate a degree, a non-degree visit, and a scholarship. 上海交通大学医学院 prints a six-year English clinical medicine degree. 上海中医药大学 prints a five-year English acupuncture degree and a separate master’s prospectus.
HostThe school or hospital named on its own page. An email such as wangmy@srrsh.com is that hospital’s published coordinator. It is not a DragonTrail desk.
Observation or clinical work邵逸夫医院’s English elective page says clinical observation and rotations, and also “through observation and study.” It does not list the tasks a visitor may perform on a patient. Until an acceptance letter says otherwise, treat the visit as a request.
LanguageThe English MBBS prospectus sets English scores and does not set an HSK minimum. The Chinese-taught master’s prospectus at 上海中医药大学 asks for HSK 5 at 180 or above. Those bars are not interchangeable.
DocumentsPassport, school records, a health form, and a police-record paper appear on the degree pages we opened. A complete file is not an offer.
RecognitionHome-country rules decide whether a graduate may sit a licensing exam. WFME lists China’s WCAME as recognised until June 2030. That is the accreditor, not a personal license.
ScheduleOn 29 October 2026 the MBBS window of 8 December 2025 to 30 April 2026, and the English acupuncture window of 1 December 2025 to 30 June 2026, had both closed.
Lead time邵逸夫医院 prefers an elective file about six months ahead and says acceptance is first come, first served. A preference is not a reserved bed.

Name the Contract Before the City

Start with the contract, not the skyline. A six-year degree, a three-year master’s, a two-week hospital observation, and a summer practicum for another university’s students are four different agreements. 上海交通大学医学院’s 2026 prospectus names one undergraduate product for this cluster: Clinical Medicine taught in English for six years. 上海中医药大学’s English education page names many degrees, including nursing and pharmacy, and does not print a fee next to those names. Mixing them into one “medicine in China” price is how people compare the wrong invoice.

DragonTrail plans study routes. We do not admit you, we do not employ you in a ward, and we do not book you as a patient. If you need treatment, that is a different conversation with a hospital. This cluster does not sell that appointment. If you need a study place, the next step is still the school’s own form, or a written acceptance from the hospital that actually hosts the visit.

  • Write down degree, short course, or visit before you compare fees.
  • A scholarship guide is not the degree prospectus, even when the same school publishes both.
  • A hospital coordinator’s email is a request channel, not a confirmed week.

Three Clocks, Not One National Intake

The English MBBS page at 上海交通大学医学院, time-stamped 3 December 2025, opens applications from 8 December 2025 to 30 April 2026, Beijing time, and says teaching starts in early September 2026, with the exact day on the admission notice. Pre-admitted applicants must confirm and prepay tuition within two weeks or the offer is withdrawn. Admission notices were to be issued starting July 2026. On the day we read the page, that whole 2026 clock had already run.

CUCAS’s MBBS card for the same university prints RMB 75,000 a year as well, but it prints a start of 15 September 2027 and a deadline of 30 April 2027. The school page and the card are not the same intake. CUCAS also prints a service fee of USD 300 and an application fee of USD 113. The school page prints an application fee of RMB 800 and does not print those dollar charges. Use the school page for the school’s fee, and label the card as the aggregator’s.

  • School MBBS tuition on the prospectus: RMB 75,000 per academic year.
  • School dorm on that prospectus: RMB 40 per day per bed in a double room.
  • School insurance on that prospectus: RMB 800 per year. Books, meals, and transport are separate.

A Hospital Visit Stays a Request

浙江大学医学院附属邵逸夫医院 says its international elective began in 1999 and receives more than 50 students and young professionals a year. The English training page accepts medical students, residents, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare workers for two weeks to three months. Medical students must be in the final two years. Other healthcare students should be near the end of the degree. The hospital prefers the file six months ahead. None of those sentences is an acceptance of your dates.

The same hospital’s pages disagree with each other about the room you walk into. The English questions put the Center for International Collaboration on Floor 4, Tower VII, Qingchun Campus. The Chinese page 境外人员实习进修 puts Mrs. Wang Mengyi on the 7th Floor, Tower VII, 3 East Qingchun Road. The English page gives 0571-8600 8867 and 188 6715 3204. The Chinese page and the Zhejiang University list give 86-571-86006687, and the email wangmy@srrsh.com. Bring both addresses to the hospital. Do not let a copied floor number decide your first morning.

  • Pediatrics is named as an exception on the elective page. Do not plan a children’s rotation there from that page.
  • If accepted, the English questions say the rotation fee is waived. Housing, meals, and transport are still yours.
  • Students in school are asked to come without a companion. Graduates may ask about a spouse. That is the hospital’s rule, not a visa.

Home Rules Decide Practice, Not This Page

A degree taught in China does not, by itself, let you sit a licensing exam at home. The World Federation for Medical Education map, read on 29 October 2026, lists the Working Committee for the Accreditation of Medical Education under China’s Ministry of Education, known as WCAME, as recognised until June 2030. That sentence is about the agency. It is not a statement that you, or any one graduate, may practice. The committee’s own English index returned an error when we asked for it, so this page does not quote a school-by-school accreditation table.

The World Directory of Medical Schools did not return a directory page. Aggregator articles about an English-taught MBBS list disagree with each other, and we did not open a file on moe.gov.cn, so this cluster does not print a quota table or a “safe university” list. If a regulator at home asks for a directory entry, you ask that regulator what it accepts. DragonTrail will not tell you that you are eligible to practice.

Read the Yuan on the Page You Mean

There is no single medicine fee. On the MBBS prospectus, tuition is RMB 75,000 a year. On the English acupuncture bachelor prospectus at 上海中医药大学, No. ENB2026900511, tuition is CNY 42,000 a year, the application fee is CNY 450 that the university must actually receive, and insurance is CNY 800 a year. On the master’s prospectus, No. ENM2026900311, full-time Chinese-taught tuition is CNY 34,000 a year and full-time English or Japanese is CNY 51,000 a year. Part-time figures are higher. Those are three products.

Shanghai Government Scholarship, on the 上海交通大学医学院 guide, has a Type A that covers tuition, housing, insurance of RMB 800 a year, and a monthly allowance of RMB 2,500 for undergraduates, RMB 3,000 for master’s students, and RMB 3,500 for doctoral students. Type B covers tuition and the same insurance, not the allowance. The printed application period is 1 January 2026 to 31 July 2026, and awards follow admission. That window had closed by 29 October 2026. Applying for a scholarship is not the same as holding one.

What to Carry Into the Next Page

Carry four labels into every page below: the credential name, the language of the classroom, whether a home school must nominate you, and whether anyone has said you may touch a patient. If a cell is blank, the page we opened did not print it. We do not fill blanks from a neighbouring degree. The Chinese clinical medicine card on CUCAS, for example, is a five-year Chinese-taught listing at RMB 29,000 a year. It is not the English MBBS, and its HSK line is the card’s line.

The buttons at the end of each page open a study-route explainer and a guidance form. Neither one submits you to 上海交通大学医学院, reserves a week at 邵逸夫医院, or tells a medical council that you qualify. If a date on a source has passed, read it as a description of that prospectus, not as an invitation.

  • MBBS and the Chinese-taught clinical card are different products.
  • Elective, observership, and educational visit are requests until the host writes back.
  • Licensing stays on the recognition page, and it stays undecided here.

Medicine Routes

Each route below is one way people study medicine or healthcare in China. None of them is a programme DragonTrail enrolls, and none of them confirms a hospital placement or a right to practice.

Sources

These pages were read on 29 October 2026 (Asia/Shanghai). Tuition, language rules, and application windows change, and the 2026 windows on the school pages had already closed. A CUCAS card is CUCAS’s listing. The World Directory of Medical Schools did not return a directory page. The Campus China address named in a scholarship paragraph did not open. A hospital email printed by a university is that university’s contact. It is not a placement DragonTrail has confirmed, and it is not permission to examine a patient.

FAQ

Is this page a medical school application?

No. It explains how to read public pages from named schools and one teaching hospital. The application, if you make one, is on the school’s portal, such as applyiso.shsmu.edu.cn or apply.shutcm.edu.cn. DragonTrail does not run those portals.

Can DragonTrail confirm a hospital placement?

No. 邵逸夫医院 publishes its own coordinator and says it prefers six months’ notice. A message to that address is a request to the hospital. We do not keep a list of weeks that are already approved.

Does an English-taught degree mean I can practice at home?

No. Teaching language and a home licence are different questions. WCAME’s recognition until June 2030 describes China’s accreditation committee. Your council, not this page, decides whether you may sit an exam or practise.

Which tuition number should I trust?

Trust the figure on the prospectus for the exact product, and keep the CUCAS card labelled as CUCAS. The school MBBS page and the CUCAS MBBS card both print RMB 75,000 a year, but they print different start years. The card’s USD 300 service fee is not on the school page.

Are the 2026 intakes still open?

Not on the pages we opened. The MBBS deadline of 30 April 2026, the English acupuncture deadline of 30 June 2026, the master’s deadline of 15 May 2026, and the Shanghai Government Scholarship deadline of 31 July 2026 had all passed by 29 October 2026. A later prospectus would have to say so itself.

What is the difference between a degree and a hospital visit?

A degree is a multi-year enrolment with a fee, a language bar, and an admission notice. A visit at 邵逸夫医院 is two weeks to three months, only if the hospital accepts you, and the English page says the rotation fee is waived while housing is not. One does not include the other.

Why is there no list of approved universities?

Because we did not open an official Ministry file, aggregator counts disagreed, and the World Directory of Medical Schools did not return a page. Printing a ranking from those gaps would pretend we had a document we did not have.

What should I send if I ask DragonTrail for guidance?

The credential you want, the language you can study in, whether your home school must nominate you, and the month you could travel. Say plainly if you need a degree or only a visit. Do not send patient details. This form does not create a hospital booking.

Compare study routes, or tell us the credential, the teaching language, and whether a home school must nominate you. Neither button admits you to a medical school, confirms a hospital, or licenses you to practice.
