At a Glance

Start With the Council That Would Actually Register You

Before you compare RMB 75,000 with CNY 42,000, ask the council where you hope to work what it accepts. Some councils ask for a degree from a listed school, some ask for an accreditation decision, some ask for an exam, and some do not accept a foreign primary medical qualification at all. The answer changes by country and it changes over time. A page written in Shanghai cannot freeze that answer. DragonTrail will not phone your council and will not predict your result. If a counsellor offers a pass figure or a promised outcome, that number is not from these documents and does not belong in your plan.

Write down the exact award title you would receive, not the nickname. The English prospectus at 上海交通大学医学院 says Clinical Medicine, six years, taught in English. The acupuncture prospectus at 上海中医药大学 says Bachelor of Chinese Medicine. A joint PhD is a research degree with two universities, not a medical licence. A professional master’s in public health or nursing is not a licence to be a physician. Nicknames such as MBBS are common in search, and the certificate may not use them. Send the council the prospectus title, not the search title.

WCAME’s Recognition Is About the Committee

The World Federation for Medical Education map, read on 29 October 2026, lists China with the Working Committee for the Accreditation of Medical Education of the Ministry of Education, WCAME, recognised until June 2030, and gives the committee’s site as wcame.meduc.cn. When we requested the English index of that site, the server returned an error, so we do not quote a table of which faculties passed accreditation or when their period ends. Agency recognition means WFME has recognised the committee’s process for a period. It does not mean every programme inside China has been accredited, and it does not mean a graduate may practise in a named country. The map is a list of agencies. Your name is not on it.

A change in WFME rules about how long recognition lasts does not, by itself, extend or shorten your right to work. The date we can print is the one on the map: until June 2030 for this committee. After that date the map would need to be read again. Do not treat June 2030 as the expiry of your future degree. The degree’s value at home is still the council’s rule, which may ignore WFME, use it as one input, or add an exam. We will not collapse those possibilities into “you will be fine if you finish before 2030.”

Directories We Could Not Read Are Not a List

The World Directory of Medical Schools refused the request. We cannot say that 上海交通大学医学院 or 上海中医药大学 is listed there, and we cannot say that it is absent. A refused page is a gap. People sometimes treat a gap as a hidden ban or as a hidden approval. Both readings are inventions. If your council requires a directory screenshot, you need a successful opening of that directory on the day you apply, not this paragraph.

English-language articles that claim to reprint a Ministry list of universities allowed to teach clinical medicine in English disagreed with each other on how many universities and on at least one quota. We did not open moe.gov.cn for that list on 29 October 2026. Copying either article would launder an unchecked number into a study guide. The practical consequence is simple: do not choose a university because a blog says it is “on the list.” Ask the university for the current Ministry permission if your council cares about that permission, and ask the council whether the permission matters. Being allowed to teach an English-medium degree, if that permission exists, is still not a licence for the graduate.

Study Status Is Not a Right to Practise in China

The visa page at 上海交通大学医学院 tells enrolled students to enter on X1 or X2 and then, in the cases it names, to obtain a residence permit. A residence permit for study is not a medical licence. The elective pages at 邵逸夫医院 do not say the visitor may practise. They speak of observation, study, and an evaluation. A home licence, for a resident who visits, does not automatically credential you inside the hospital. We say this so a study plan is not later described as work. Working without the licence a Chinese authority requires is outside anything this cluster will help you do.

Patient care as a student, if a school’s own clinical rules allow a defined task, is that school’s rule plus the law, not a sentence we add. Unrestricted patient contact is not an outcome of recognition, of WFME, or of an elective. Recognition pages are sometimes used to imply that a degree is “fully clinical.” These documents do not support that slogan. The MBBS prospectus is a degree contract. The hospital page is a visit contract. Neither is a practice certificate.

TCM and the Shorter Awards Need an Extra Question

Regulators often treat a Bachelor of Chinese Medicine differently from a clinical medicine degree. Some do not register it as a medical qualification at all. Some register a separate TCM title with a narrow scope. The SHUTCM prospectus is honest about the award name and silent about foreign registration, which is correct, because it cannot know your council. A short course, which we could not even price, would be weaker still. Do not tell an employer that a five-year TCM degree is “equivalent to an MBBS” because both are healthcare study. Equivalence is the council’s word. If they have not written it, you do not have it.

Nursing, pharmacy, dentistry, and public health have their own regulators. A name on 上海中医药大学’s education page does not enrol you and does not register you. Dentistry had no fee prospectus in this review, so there is no dental award to recognise yet. An elective evaluation is not a primary dental or nursing qualification. Collect the certificate you will actually hold before you ask a council to recognise it. Asking them about a nickname wastes the sitting.

What to Take to a Council, and What Not to Claim

Take the prospectus, the award title, the length, the language of instruction, and any accreditation question the council already published. Take WCAME’s recognition period only if the council asks about the accreditor, and describe it as the committee’s recognition until June 2030, not as your own. Do not take a blog quota list. Do not take a promise from this website, because there is not one. If the council’s rule is unclear, the next step is the council, not a larger tuition payment.
