Public Health Study

Public health study in China, in this review, is a degree name on the English page of 上海中医药大学 and a fee table that applies only if that major sits in the master’s catalog we did not open. It is not a posting in an epidemic team, and DragonTrail does not staff one.

Information checked 29 October 2026 (Asia/Shanghai).

Preventive Medicine and Public Administration (health management) are bachelor names without fees. Public Health is a professional master’s name without its own price. The 2026 master’s yuan figures are by language and full-time status. We will not assign them to public health until the mentor catalog says the major is there. No field placement is confirmed.

Public Health Is a Name on the Map, Not a Contract

The English education page at 上海中医药大学 explains that students should learn TCM, modern medicine, and Chinese philosophy, and then it lists degrees. Public Health appears once, as a professional master’s, in a row with Chinese materia medica, nursing, and translation studies. Preventive Medicine appears as a bachelor. Public Administration appears as a bachelor focused on health management. Three names, three possible contracts, zero fees on that page. A reader who wants “public health in China” still has to pick which of the three, and then find a prospectus that actually admits international students into it.

The 2017 copyright on the footer is a reason to be slow. The 2026 master’s and acupuncture PDFs are newer and do not, in the pages we read, repeat the words Preventive Medicine. A bachelor title can remain on an old English page after the international intake has moved. Ask the admissions office at iec.admissions@shutcm.edu.cn whether that bachelor is open to a foreign passport this year. An email to that office is your question, not an application, and the master’s prospectus says email is the wrong channel for the master’s file itself.

The Fee Table Waits on the Catalog

Prospectus ENM2026900311 prices the master’s by how it is taught, not by the public-health label. Full-time Chinese-taught study is CNY 34,000 a year. Part-time Chinese-taught study is CNY 51,000. Full-time English or Japanese is CNY 51,000. Part-time English or Japanese is CNY 60,000. Application fee CNY 800, unless you are a CSC Type A recipient. Insurance CNY 800 a year. Books and housing sit outside tuition. Tuition is said to include lectures, clinical internship, tutor instruction, and thesis review. “Clinical internship” is an odd phrase for a public-health major and may simply be boilerplate for every major. We will not invent a ward rotation to make the phrase fit.

Majors are chosen through the mentor catalog. Applicants pick one mentor from that catalog. We did not open the catalog, so a sentence such as “public health costs CNY 51,000” is not yet earned. If your mentor is listed and the class is English-taught and full-time, the CNY 51,000 line is the one the prospectus prints, and the class still needs five students. If your mentor is absent, there is no price because there is no seat. Age on this prospectus is under 65, with exceptions. The Shanghai Government Scholarship guide at 上海交通大学医学院 uses 35 for a master’s. That guide is a different school. Do not import its age cap, and do not import its RMB 3,000 allowance, unless SHUTCM prints the same numbers for this major.

Study Is Not an Emergency Deployment

Public-health searches spike when news is bad. This page is the wrong tool for that moment. Nothing we opened recruits people to investigate an outbreak, to staff a fever clinic, or to represent a health bureau. DragonTrail does not deploy learners into epidemics. A master’s thesis topic about a health system is still a thesis. It is not a credential that lets you enter a ward or a government office.

Hospital observation, if that is what you actually want, is the elective and observership route at 邵逸夫医院 and the other Zhejiang sites. Those pages speak to medical students and to nurses and pharmacists near the end of training. They do not say “public-health student.” A public-health student who writes anyway should expect a possible no, and should not describe the email as a field placement DragonTrail arranged. Six months’ notice is the hospital’s preference for the visitors it does describe.

Scholarships Are Named, Not Awarded

The master’s prospectus points Chinese Government Scholarship readers to campuschina.org and says benefits follow the Ministry’s regulations. That site did not open on 29 October 2026, so this page has no stipend figure from it. Shanghai Government Scholarship Type A and Type B are named for SHUTCM master’s applicants, without yuan amounts on that PDF. The detailed Type A allowance (RMB 2,500, 3,000, or 3,500 by level) is printed on the 上海交通大学医学院 scholarship page, for applicants to that school, with a window of 1 January 2026 to 31 July 2026 that has closed. Copying those allowances onto a SHUTCM public-health seat would mix two institutions.

A scholarship application is also too late if you have not been admitted. The SJTU medicine guide says awards follow a review after admission, and that a person who already holds another Chinese government scholarship should not apply. SHUTCM says CSC Type A recipients skip its application fee and everyone else must pay. None of these sentences mean you have funding. They mean the forms exist.

Language and Papers Follow the Master’s File

If you do apply to the master’s, the language split is the one in the prospectus, not a public-health exception. Chinese-taught: HSK 5 at 180 or above, unless you were schooled in Chinese and the university accepts that. English-taught: no Chinese minimum, and TOEFL at least 90 or IELTS at least 6.5 if you are not a native speaker. Japanese-taught classes are mentioned, with the same five-student floor. CSCA is not the master’s bar on this PDF. CSCA mathematics appears on the English acupuncture bachelor prospectus. Do not add physics and chemistry from the MBBS page unless a public-health prospectus asks for them. None we opened did.

Papers include the passport (about ten months of validity advised), degree and transcripts with notarized translations if needed, a full-time recommendation from an associate professor or higher, a financial statement or a deposit of at least CNY 100,000, and a non-criminal-record commitment. Scholarship applicants add a physical examination form. People with a chronic condition are told to disclose it and to ask the admissions office if they are unsure. That is the school’s health question for enrolment. It is not a clinical service and not a reason to email DragonTrail your diagnosis.

Keep the Bureau, the Degree, and the Visit Apart

Public health as a job in a bureau, public health as a master’s title, and a week in a hospital are three requests. This page can only document the second, and only up to the missing catalog. The third is a different cluster of pages and still needs a host. The first is not sold here at all. If your home employer needs the degree for promotion, that is your employer’s rule. SHUTCM does not mention educational leave, and we did not open a labour-law page for it.

Use Find a Suitable Program to see how study routes are grouped, and Request Guidance if you want help deciding whether you are actually looking for a degree. Neither button admits you and neither button places you in a health department.

These pages were read on 29 October 2026 (Asia/Shanghai). Tuition, language rules, and application windows change, and the 2026 windows on the school pages had already closed. A CUCAS card is CUCAS’s listing. The World Directory of Medical Schools did not return a directory page. The Campus China address named in a scholarship paragraph did not open. A hospital email printed by a university is that university’s contact. It is not a placement DragonTrail has confirmed, and it is not permission to examine a patient.

FAQ

How much does a public-health degree in China cost?

The education page does not say. Preventive medicine and the health-management bachelor have no fee there. The master’s table of CNY 34,000 to CNY 60,000 a year is real for the 2026 SHUTCM prospectus and applies to a public-health seat only if that major and mentor are in the catalog. We did not open the catalog.

Is the professional master’s taught in English?

The prospectus allows Chinese, English, or some Japanese, and English-taught applicants choose mentors from an English-taught catalog. It does not say the public-health professional degree is English. You have to see the catalog line.

Can I do public-health fieldwork in a Chinese hospital through DragonTrail?

No. We do not place students in bureaus or hospitals. Shaw Hospital’s public elective is for medical students in the final two years and for other healthcare students near the end of a clinical degree. It does not advertise a public-health practicum.

Does HSK 4 meet the Chinese-taught master’s rule?

The prospectus asks for HSK Level 5 at 180 points or above. It does not mention HSK 4. An English-taught place, if you secure one, has no Chinese minimum and does require English scores for non-native speakers.

Is a public-health master’s a medical licence?

No. It is a degree, if you are admitted and you finish. Practice rights for clinicians are a different question, answered by the regulator where you want to work, not by this page.

Was the 2026 master’s intake open in late October 2026?

No. The printed period ended on 15 May 2026. Admission emails were planned for the middle of July 2026. A new prospectus would have to reopen the date. Do not send the file by email. The school says emailed master’s documents are not processed.

Can I use the MBBS scholarship allowance for this degree?

Only if the school that would pay you prints that allowance for your programme. The RMB 3,000 master’s figure is on the 上海交通大学医学院 scholarship guide. The SHUTCM master’s PDF names Shanghai Government Scholarship without copying those yuan amounts.

What can DragonTrail do on this route?

Help you see that the fee is unpublished until the catalog is checked, and that a field post is not part of the offer. We cannot nominate a mentor or employ you in a public-health unit.

Compare study routes, or tell us the credential, the teaching language, and whether a home school must nominate you. Neither button admits you to a medical school, confirms a hospital, or licenses you to practice.
