Training for Healthcare Professionals

Training for healthcare professionals, on the page 邵逸夫医院 publishes, is a short learning period in a public hospital for residents, nurses, pharmacists, and similar applicants. It is requested, not held by DragonTrail, and it does not employ you or license you.

Information checked 29 October 2026 (Asia/Shanghai).

The hospital prefers six months’ notice and first-come acceptance. An accepted rotation waives the rotation fee and not the cost of living. A spouse may accompany someone who has finished the degree. Students still in school may not bring one. No continuing-education credit is promised. No patient-care privileges are granted by this page.

At a Glance

How longTwo weeks to three months. Minimum two weeks in one department before a change, on the elective page.
Lead timeSix months preferred. First come, first served.
FeeRotation fee waived if accepted, on the English questions. Housing, meals, and transport are yours. Insurance is optional on that page.
CompanionFinished clinicians may ask to bring a spouse. People still in school are asked to come alone.

The Hospital Names the Professions. It Does Not Hire Them

邵逸夫医院’s English training page says the programme, running since 1999, receives more than 50 students and young professionals a year and accepts medical students, medical residents, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare workers for two weeks to three months of learning in a Chinese public hospital. That list is broader than the final-year medical student. It is still a learning list. There is no salary, no night-shift rota, and no line that says your home licence lets you work. “Young professionals” is the hospital’s phrase for the people it already receives. It is not an open recruitment slogan.

The questions tighten the student side: medical students only in the final two years, and other healthcare students near the end of the degree. A resident who has a home licence is not a student, and the page does not spell out a separate document list for licensed staff beyond the general application. The elective page asks for the form, a CV, and a university recommendation. A hospital employer’s letter may be what a resident has instead of a dean’s letter. Ask the coordinator which letter they will accept. Do not invent a substitute and call it accepted.

There Is No CME Credit Printed on the Page

Professionals often need hours for a board. Shaw says it will write an evaluation based on your institution’s requirements after you finish. That is a letter. It does not name a credit hour, a specialty certificate, or a body that must accept the letter. If your board needs a code, a minimum number of cases, or a licensed supervisor in your own country, this page cannot supply them. Get that answer from the board before you ask the hospital to host you. A useful visit and a countable visit are different.

The joint PhD and the SHUTCM master’s are degree routes, not weekend professional courses. Their fees, from a waived joint-PhD tuition window to CNY 34,000 a year and up, are the wrong column for a three-month hospital stay. Paying a degree fee does not create this visit. The visit, if accepted, is the hospital’s waiver of a rotation fee plus your living costs. Mixing the columns produces a payment nobody asked for.

Licensed at Home Does Not Mean Licensed on This Ward

A home licence is why the hospital might take you seriously. It is not why the ward must let you prescribe, operate, or lead a resuscitation. The pages describe learning and observation, an instructor, and an evaluation. They do not describe credentialing, a temporary Chinese licence, or malpractice cover. Insurance on Shaw’s page is your choice, not a hospital policy in your name. The university-level elective page, for students, says you must carry insurance. A professional should ask Shaw what cover they expect and should not assume the student sentence applies, or that “optional” means wise.

Bring the same caution to procedures. If your goal is to perform them, say that in the first email and expect a possible no. This guide will not smooth that no into a yes. Unrestricted patient contact is not a professional courtesy we will advertise. Defined learning tasks, if a chief of service later writes them down, are that letter’s business. They are not transferable to a colleague who travels with you.

Floor, Timing, and a Spouse

The logistics are the same disagreement the elective page records, because it is the same hospital. English questions: Floor 4, Tower VII, phones 0571-8600 8867 and 188 6715 3204, weekday arrival, metro from Xiaoshan or train from Pudong. Chinese page: 7th Floor, Tower VII, 3 East Qingchun Road, phone 86-571-86006687, email wangmy@srrsh.com. Confirm the floor when someone replies. Book housing only after acceptance. The hospital is explicit that the room is your responsibility and that you should start booking once you are in.

Finished professionals may ask to bring a spouse. The page does not offer a second badge, a second meal plan, or a clinical role for that person. Students are asked not to bring anyone. A spouse is not a visa we file. The SJTU visa page’s X1 and X2 rules are for enrolled students of that university, not automatically for a three-month professional visitor at a Hangzhou hospital. Ask the host which invitation you will receive, then ask the embassy. Do not enter on the wrong status and hope the hospital can repair it. SJTU, for its own students, says the wrong visa blocks enrolment.

A Queue of Fifty Is Not a Job Market

More than 50 people a year is a teaching volume. First come, first served is how the hospital rations that teaching. Neither sentence is a labour contract, a relocation package, or a path to stay and work. DragonTrail does not recruit clinicians for Chinese hospitals and does not hold vacancies. If a message you received offers a job and cites this study page, it is not from us. Professional training here means the public learning period the hospital described.

Group training for a company or a hospital board is also unconfirmed. The hospital does not publish a price for a custom week for twenty nurses. The Chinese page mentions summer social practicums for students from Hong Kong Polytechnic University, which is a specific relationship the hospital describes, not a template we can sell. Custom programmes, if they exist, are negotiated with the hospital by the sending institution. We are not that institution.

Match Your Status to the Page

If you are a final-year student, the elective page is the fuller process. If you have finished and you hold a profession the hospital named, this page is the right caution: ask, wait, do not assume duties. If you wanted a degree, you are on the wrong page and the fees will not match. If you wanted a one-week executive course with a certificate, neither Shaw nor the degree PDFs printed that course. Say your profession, your licence country, and whether you need countable hours. If you need countable hours, resolve that at home first.

The guidance form can help you phrase the ask. It cannot email the hospital as the sponsor and it cannot insure your hands. Find a Suitable Program is for choosing a study route, not for booking a theatre list.

Copy Both Desks, and Do Not Borrow a Student Visa Rule

Professionals should copy the contact lines exactly, because the public pages disagree. The English questions name Floor 4, Tower VII, Qingchun, and two phones, 0571-8600 8867 and 188 6715 3204, for Amy Wang. The Chinese page names the 7th Floor, Tower VII, 3 East Qingchun Road, Hangzhou 310016, and the phone 86(571)86006687. The email wangmy@srrsh.com appears on both. DragonTrail will not choose a floor. Arrive on a weekday, which is what the English questions ask, and only after a written acceptance. Housing is booked after that acceptance. Meals and local transport stay with the applicant. The English questions say insurance is completely up to you. That sentence is not a policy this site sells, and it is not a statement that observation carries no risk. If your board or your own hospital expects cover, buy it at home and ask Shaw which proof they want to see.

Visa text printed for students at 上海交通大学医学院 does not automatically cover a Shaw visitor. That school says you must enter on an X1 or an X2 before registration, and that a visa-free entry cannot be used to enrol there. A short professional stay may need a different category, which neither Shaw’s English page nor the school’s visa page spells out for a visiting pharmacist or nurse. Take the hospital’s acceptance letter, if one is issued, to the embassy and ask which stamp they will give. Do not reuse a tourist entry and call it study. Do not ask DragonTrail to write the invitation. The school’s figure of RMB 100,000 is a deposit practice it describes for its own students in general, not a Shaw housing deposit and not a fee we collect.

These pages were read on 29 October 2026 (Asia/Shanghai). Tuition, language rules, and application windows change, and the 2026 windows on the school pages had already closed. A CUCAS card is CUCAS’s listing. The World Directory of Medical Schools did not return a directory page. The Campus China address named in a scholarship paragraph did not open. A hospital email printed by a university is that university’s contact. It is not a placement DragonTrail has confirmed, and it is not permission to examine a patient.

FAQ

Can a licensed doctor train at Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital?

You can apply. The training page includes medical residents and other healthcare workers for two weeks to three months. It does not promise a yes, a salary, or the right to treat. Email the hospital’s coordinator about six months ahead.

Is this continuing-education credit?

Not as a credit the page names. The hospital can write an evaluation to your institution’s form. Whether a board counts the hours is the board’s decision. Ask the board before you travel.

Will I work shifts?

Nothing on the page describes employment or a rota. The language is learning, observation, and an instructor. A home licence does not staff you on this ward.

Can my partner come?

If you have completed the degree, the English questions say a spouse may accompany you. People still in school are asked to come alone. A spouse does not get a clinical role on that page, and we do not arrange the visa.

What does it cost a professional?

If Shaw accepts you, the English questions waive the rotation fee. You still pay housing, meals, and transport. Insurance is described as your choice on that page. Ask what they expect. Do not pay a third-party “placement fee” that the hospital does not charge.

Is a custom course for my hospital available?

Not from DragonTrail, and not as a priced public product on the pages we opened. The Hong Kong Polytechnic summer practicum is the hospital’s description of its own link, not a course we can copy for another group.

Which phone is correct?

The English page and the Chinese page print different numbers and different floors for the same office. Use wangmy@srrsh.com and confirm the floor in the reply. Both versions were on the public web on 29 October 2026.

Can DragonTrail sponsor my professional visa?

No. We do not issue invitation letters. The host letter, if the hospital writes one, is what you take to the embassy. The X1 and X2 text we read belongs to 上海交通大学医学院’s own students.

Compare study routes, or tell us the credential, the teaching language, and whether a home school must nominate you. Neither button admits you to a medical school, confirms a hospital, or licenses you to practice.
