Medical Placement Eligibility and Documents

Eligibility for medical study or a hospital period is the rule printed on that specific form. A complete MBBS file does not make you eligible for an elective, and an elective letter does not make you eligible for a degree. DragonTrail does not certify documents and does not decide admissions.

Information checked 29 October 2026 (Asia/Shanghai).

The 2026 degree windows we opened had closed by 29 October 2026. A full file is still not an offer. Nationality rules follow Document No. 12 of 2020 as each school prints them. A hospital placement remains a request until that hospital writes back. We do not notarize, translate, or guarantee that a paper will be accepted.

Pick the File Before You Collect Stamps

The most expensive document error is assembling the wrong stack. The English MBBS prospectus at 上海交通大学医学院 asks for a passport with six months’ validity, diploma and transcripts as originals or notarized copies, a high-school profile, English scores, CSCA in three sciences, a signed personal statement, two recommendations, a RMB 100,000 bank certificate, a physical examination form, a four-year police paper, the RMB 800 receipt, a birth certificate, and parents’ nationality papers. The English TCM bachelor at 上海中医药大学 asks for a passport advised at ten months, CSCA mathematics, English evidence of a different shape, a non-criminal-record paper, and a financial statement, filed only through apply.shutcm.edu.cn. Shaw’s elective asks for a form, a CV, and a university recommendation. Three stacks. A notary cannot fix the fact that you brought the wrong one.

Age and status change the stack again. Under 18 on 1 September 2026, the MBBS prospectus wants a guardian in mainland China. The TCM bachelor says under 60, with exceptions. The SHUTCM master’s says under 65, with exceptions. The joint PhD says under 40. The Shanghai Government Scholarship guide at 上海交通大学医学院 says 25, 35, and 40 by level. You can be eligible for one document and ineligible for another on the same birthday. Write the programme name at the top of the checklist.

Document No. 12 Is a School Gate, Not Our Advice

Both degree prospectuses cite Ministry of Education Document No. 12 of 2020. The MBBS page is the longer version we read. If you were born abroad to a Chinese-citizen parent, or you left Chinese citizenship, you must show when the foreign passport began and where you actually lived. The MBBS page uses 30 April 2022 and a two-year residence outside the mainland between 1 May 2022 and 30 April 2026, with nine months able to count as a year, proved by stamps. It also asks for proof that Chinese household registration was cancelled, in the cases it lists. The TCM prospectus has its own nationality statement and entry-exit attachment covering travel since 30 April 2022. Read the attachment for the file you will send. DragonTrail does not decide whether you count as an international student. The university does, and a wrong declaration can void the offer later, which the MBBS page says in its own words when originals do not match.

A foreign passport alone is not the end of the test. The MBBS page says some applicants who hold one are still not treated as international students under the rule. Budget time for parents’ passports, old Chinese identity papers, and a full stamp history. Translations must be notarized if the paper is not already in Chinese or English, and the translation travels with the original. Emailed scans do not replace that for the SHUTCM portals, which refuse email applications.

A Hospital Asks Who You Are in Training, Not for CSCA

Shaw will not read your CSCA physics score. It will read your year of medical school or your profession. Final two years, or near the end of a nursing, pharmacy, or similar degree, or a resident the training page is willing to consider. The university elective page wants a transcript, a dean’s letter, a CV, a statement of what you want to learn, and the form. Partner-school students are told to start with the home coordinator. If that coordinator will not nominate you, the public page does not offer a workaround. Self-application exists on that page and can be denied if the process is incomplete.

Do not send the hospital your MBBS bank certificate and expect it to count as acceptance. Do not send DragonTrail clinical logs. For the hospital, the essential early papers are the ones the hospital named, sent to wangmy@srrsh.com or to the coordinator of the site you actually want, about six months before the dates. A police paper and a physical exam may be asked for later, especially if a visa needs them. The SJTU visa page says a physical report is required “if needed” for the visa and is required for X1 students and for X2 students staying over six months. That page is about SJTU students. Ask the host which exam you need rather than assuming the degree form is the visa form.

Money Papers and Health Papers Are Screens, Not Care

A bank certificate of RMB 100,000 or CNY 100,000 shows funds. It does not pay tuition. The MBBS tuition is RMB 75,000 a year on top of that certificate, and pre-admitted students must prepay within two weeks. The TCM application fee must arrive as CNY 450 after bank charges. The master’s fee is CNY 800 unless you are CSC Type A. Confusing the certificate with the payment is how offers lapse. Keep the receipt the school asks for. Unpaid MBBS applications are invalid, and the RMB 800 is not returned.

The physical examination form is an admissions and visa screen. The MBBS prospectus wants it from a public hospital, within six months, on the standard form. Scholarship applicants at both schools have extra forms. People with chronic illness are told by SHUTCM to disclose it and to ask the school if they are unsure they may enrol. Follow that instruction with the school. Do not send the form to DragonTrail for interpretation. We do not provide clinical advice, and a study guide must not tell you that you are medically fit. After arrival, SJTU’s visa page says X1 students and long X2 stays need an examination or verification in Shanghai, with a cost it describes as around RMB 500, or RMB 70 to 400 for verification, and a report after about four working days. Those figures are that page’s figures for its students.

A Perfect File Does Not Reopen a Closed Window

On 29 October 2026 the MBBS deadline of 30 April 2026, the TCM bachelor deadline of 30 June 2026, the master’s deadline of 15 May 2026, and the scholarship deadline of 31 July 2026 had all passed. CSCA dates did not render on www.csca.cn without JavaScript, so we cannot tell you the next sitting. A complete stack prepared in November 2026 is preparation for a prospectus that has not been published here, not an application to the closed one. The schools say they may change rules if the authorities change policy. The next PDF wins. Do not pay against the old one because your documents are finally ready.

Falsified papers are a named ground for refusal on the MBBS page, including after arrival when originals are checked. Notarized copies still have to match. A template letter that overstates your year of training will fail at the hospital as well, because the final-two-years rule is checked against the university letter, not against your email. We will not draft a letter that hides your year.

Lay the Papers Out by Contract

Make three piles if you are considering more than one route: degree, master’s or PhD, hospital request. On each pile, write the portal or the email, the fee, the language test, and whether the window is open. If a pile has no current prospectus, it is not an application yet. Bring questions about mismatches — ten months of passport versus six, IELTS 6 versus 6.5 versus 7 — to the school that will receive the file. Those mismatches are real across the pages we opened. They are not typos for us to smooth.

Request Guidance if you want help seeing which pile you are in. Find a Suitable Program if you are still choosing the route. Neither button notarizes a diploma or tells a university that you qualify. A licence question belongs on the recognition page, and documents for study are not that licence.

Sources

These pages were read on 29 October 2026 (Asia/Shanghai). Tuition, language rules, and application windows change, and the 2026 windows on the school pages had already closed. A CUCAS card is CUCAS’s listing. The World Directory of Medical Schools did not return a directory page. The Campus China address named in a scholarship paragraph did not open. A hospital email printed by a university is that university’s contact. It is not a placement DragonTrail has confirmed, and it is not permission to examine a patient.

FAQ

Does a complete document set mean I will be admitted?

No. The MBBS page admits people after materials and an interview, and it can withdraw a pre-offer if tuition is not prepaid in two weeks or if originals do not match. Shaw can deny an incomplete elective file. A full scan is not an offer.

Which CSCA subjects do I need?

For the English MBBS prospectus: mathematics, physics, and chemistry. For the English TCM acupuncture prospectus: mathematics, in English. The master’s PDF we opened does not use CSCA as its language bar. Do not mix the lists.

How long must my passport be valid?

The MBBS list says at least six months. The SHUTCM bachelor and master’s texts advise about ten months, because the passport should not change before enrolment. Use the longer figure if you are filing to SHUTCM. The passport data must stay the same until you register.

I have a foreign passport and a Chinese parent. Am I eligible?

Maybe not, under Document No. 12 as the schools print it. You may need years of residence outside the mainland and proof about your parents’ status. The university decides. This page is not that decision and not legal advice.

Can I apply by email?

Not for the SHUTCM degree files. The prospectuses say email submissions are not processed. Use apply.shutcm.edu.cn. Shaw does ask for email to wangmy@srrsh.com for the elective. The channel depends on the contract.

Will you check my medical form?

No. We do not interpret health forms or give clinical advice. The school told scholarship applicants and people with chronic conditions how to speak to the admissions office. Use that office.

Does the elective need the RMB 100,000 certificate?

That certificate is on the MBBS document list. Shaw’s elective list, as printed, is the form, CV, and university letter. A visa stage may ask for funds later. Do not skip the hospital’s letter because you have the bank paper.

Can DragonTrail notarize or translate my papers?

No. Notarized translations, when the school asks for them, come from a notary the school will accept. We can help you read which papers the public page names. We do not stamp them and we do not guarantee the school will take them.

Compare study routes, or tell us the credential, the teaching language, and whether a home school must nominate you. Neither button admits you to a medical school, confirms a hospital, or licenses you to practice.
