Internships, Research, and Professional Experience

Internships, research, and professional experience in China are three permissions, not one product you can book. A teaching placement, spare-time work-study, and a work visa are written on different official pages, and DragonTrail holds none of them.

Information checked 29 October 2026 (Asia/Shanghai).

DragonTrail has no employer list, no stipend, and no start date. The rules below are 教育部、外交部、公安部令第42号, the 2021 勤工助学 measures, and the Chinese embassy in Sweden visa note dated 2026/10/12. 北京大学 is cited only where that university printed a research desk. No placement or host availability is confirmed here; contact the institution before making travel arrangements.

At a Glance

Who this is forStudents, graduates, and researchers comparing a term inside a Chinese school with a short visit or a job. Not a company placing you.
ClockWork-study, where it applies, is generally 8 hours a week and 40 a month, or 16 and 80 in a vacation. Study visas split at 180 days. 北京大学 also prints a six-month line.
MoneySchools publish their own RMB fees. 北京大学’s senior visiting page prints 30,000 or 34,000 RMB a year. That is not an internship wage, and DragonTrail has no fee.
Who decidesThe school admits. The consulate stamps a category. The local exit-entry office annotates a residence permit. DragonTrail does none of the three.
PapersX1 asks for an admission letter plus JW201 or JW202. X2 asks for an admission notice. F asks for an invitation. Z asks for a work-permit notification. We do not issue these.
OutcomeA certificate, a research month, or a wage are different endings. Confirm current requirements and availability directly with the relevant institution.
Easy to mix upCalling every unpaid month an internship hides Article 30, which forbids employment and business while allowing 勤工助学.
Worked exampleA student in a second year at a Chinese university may ask that university about off-campus work-study. A visitor with no Chinese enrollment cannot use that sentence.
What we do not doDragonTrail does not name an employer, hold a seat, price a stipend, or choose a visa category for this hub.

Three Permissions, Not One Product

A month inside a Chinese office can be a teaching placement the school wrote into its plan, spare-time 勤工助学, or work that needs a Z visa. Article 20 covers 教学实习 and 社会实践 under the teaching plan. Article 30 allows 勤工助学 and forbids employment and business. The Sweden embassy note dated 2026/10/12 calls work a Z category and asks for a work-permit notification. Those three are not interchangeable, and this hub does not sell any of them.

Who the Official Pages Actually Cover

The 2021 measures apply to higher-education schools that teach degree programs, and only to international students those schools already hold. Off-campus work-study also asks for more than one continuous year at that school. A graduate flying in for a summer, with no Chinese enrollment, is outside that page. Order 42’s chapters on teaching and fees govern higher-education schools. Confirm the applicable provincial requirements, school fees, and supervision arrangements with the receiving school.

Hours and Pay Sit on Different Pages

For a student the measures do cover, term-time 勤工助学 is generally 8 hours a week and 40 a month, and a vacation is generally 16 and 80. On-campus posts are mainly teaching assistant, research assistant, administration assistant, and campus public service, paid by the school. Off-campus pay is negotiated and must not sit below the local minimum wage, written into the agreement. Request current fees and any funding terms directly from the provider; no amount is confirmed here.

Visas the Embassy Note Names

Study for more than 180 days is X1, with an admission letter and JW201 or JW202, then a residence permit within 30 days of entry. Study for no more than 180 days is X2, with an admission notice and form DQ if it applies. Exchanges, visits, and study tours are F, and they need an invitation with dates, places, funds, and the inviter’s stamp. Work is Z. 北京大学’s own pages say “over 6 months” for X1, which is not the same clock as 180 days. Both stay on the page.

What Peking University Printed

北京大学’s visiting-student list describes a senior visiting year, a research scholar application it calls open all year, and a summer lab with no courses, no credits, and fees exempted. The senior page, stamped 2023-02-01, prints 400 RMB to apply, then 30,000 RMB a year in humanities or 34,000 RMB in science. The research scholar page, same stamp, prints 3,320 RMB a month. Those are university research fees, not company stipends, and the stamp is 2023, read again on 29 October 2026.

What You Can Say You Achieved

A transcript line, a research month, and a pay slip are different endings. This hub promises none of them. Article 21 lets a higher-education school issue the academic certificate the national rules allow. It does not turn a summer in an office into a degree. Confirm current requirements and availability directly with the relevant institution. If a host will not name a supervisor, the honest status is that the host has not been confirmed.

Experience Routes

Each route below separates a teaching placement, a research visit, and a work permission. None of them is a program DragonTrail enrolls, and none of them names an employer we can book.

Sources

These pages were read on 29 October 2026 (Asia/Shanghai). A fee, an hour cap, and an application window belong to the office named in the link. If a date has passed, or a line on a visa note looks incomplete, the page says so. None of this is a placement or a group visit DragonTrail can reserve, and none of it is legal advice.

FAQ

Is this hub a list of internship employers?

No. Request current fees and any funding terms directly from the provider; no amount is confirmed here. DragonTrail does not place you. The pages below separate teaching practice, spare-time work-study, and a work permit.

Can an international student work full time while studying?

Article 30 of the 2017 order allows 勤工助学 and forbids employment and business. The 2021 measures cap spare-time work-study, for students they cover, at generally 8 hours a week and 40 a month. A full-time job is a different permission.

Which visa is an internship?

The Sweden embassy note does not contain a category named internship. Study uses X1 or X2. Exchanges and study tours use F. Work uses Z and asks for a work-permit notification. The embassy decides. This is not legal advice.

Do Peking University’s fees apply to every internship?

No. The senior visiting figures, 400 RMB to apply and 30,000 or 34,000 RMB a year, are on a 北京大学 page stamped 2023-02-01. They are not a company wage and not a DragonTrail price.

What is still blank?

Request current fees and any funding terms directly from the provider; no amount is confirmed here. Confirm the applicable provincial requirements, school fees, and supervision arrangements with the receiving school.

Does a 180-day line match a six-month line?

No. The embassy note and Article 45 use 180 days. 北京大学’s senior and research pages say over or under 6 months. Both clocks are printed. They are not averaged.

Who annotates a residence permit for off-campus work-study?

The 2021 measures say the student applies within ten days to the local exit-entry office, with the agreement and a school letter. Without that annotation, off-campus work-study is not allowed. DragonTrail cannot add the note.

What should I ask a host before I travel?

Ask who supervises you, whether the hours are a teaching plan or spare-time work-study, whether the post is paid, and which visa the host’s invitation is meant to support. A silence on any of those is a blank, not a yes.

Compare study routes, or tell us the season, the field, and whether you need a teaching placement, a research visit, or help reading an authorization rule. Neither button enrolls you, finds an employer, or decides a visa category.
