CV, Interviews, and Career Preparation
CV, interviews, and career preparation in China do not create a job. The cited forms ask for a proposal, references, and a named supervisor. DragonTrail does not coach you into an offer and does not publish a hiring rate.
Information checked 29 October 2026 (Asia/Shanghai).
No placement or host availability is confirmed here; contact the institution before making travel arrangements. 北京大学’s research and senior pages say what to put in a file. They do not say you will be hired. Article 30 forbids employment during study. A polished CV is not a work permit.
At a Glance
| Who this is for | Applicants preparing a file for a Chinese university desk. Not a recruiting service. |
|---|---|
| Clock | Research scholar files should be in at least three months ahead. There is no interview calendar on the cited sources. |
| Money | Paying 400 RMB to apply is non-refundable on the 北京大学 pages. That is not a coaching fee. DragonTrail charges no career fee here. |
| Who decides | The college that reads the file, and any employer that actually holds a work-permit notification. Not us. |
| Papers | A proposal of at least 1,000 characters, two original references, and the degree papers the page names. A CV only where the desk asks for one. |
| Outcome | A complete file, if you send one. Not a job, not a callback rate, and not a rewritten CV from us. |
| Easy to mix up | Listing a company you have not worked for, or treating an offer email as a work-permit notification. |
| Worked example | A Law School applicant sends a CV to pkulaweao@law.pku.edu.cn with a named collaborator. A research scholar applicant should not stop at the CV. |
| What we do not do | DragonTrail does not coach you into an offer, write your references, or quote a hiring rate. |
A CV Is Not an Application by Itself
北京大学’s research scholar file asks for a signed form, degree evidence, transcripts, two original reference letters, a proposal of at least 1,000 characters, and an ordinary-passport copy, in two sets. A CV alone does not meet that list. The Law School does ask for a current CV, plus a research description, dates, funding, a named collaborator, and a recommendation. Match the file to the desk. A generic CV sent to DragonTrail is not an application to either desk.
Interviews Were Not Described
None of the cited sources describes an interview round, a case exercise, or a language screen beyond the documents themselves. The research scholar page says the college decides from your academic record and that you should already know a professor. That is not a campus recruiting day. Confirm current requirements and availability directly with the relevant institution. If a host interviews you, ask what the interview decides.
Do Not Invent Duties on the CV
This cluster confirms no employer. A line that names a bank, a lab, or a studio you did not attend is not preparation. It is a false record. Article 21’s certificates come from the school after you actually study. A proposal of 1,000 characters is a plan, not a claim that the plan already happened. Write the proposal in the future tense until a college admits you.
References Have to Be Originals
Both fee pages at 北京大学 say the recommendation must be an original in Chinese or English, not a copy, a scan, or an email. Two letters are required. The Law School allows the supervisor to email the letter directly to pkulaweao@law.pku.edu.cn. Ask your referee which rule you are under before they send a PDF to the wrong place. We do not write the letter for them.
A Job Offer Is a Different Permission
Career preparation while you are a student does not include taking employment. Article 30 forbids it. If an employer wants you to start work, the Sweden note’s Z category asks for a Notification Letter of Foreigner's Work Permit. An offer email is not that notification. Confirm the applicable local requirements with the receiving institution. Do not resign, buy flights, or announce a job from a conversation that has no permit paper.
What a Useful Conversation Covers
When you talk to a real host, ask for the supervisor’s name, the dates, whether you pay a fee or receive pay, and which visa paper they will support. Write those answers down. 北京大学’s senior page also says the application fee is non-refundable if you pay it, so do not pay 400 RMB until the file matches the page. DragonTrail can hear the constraints. It cannot sit the interview, issue the permit, or promise a callback.

These pages were read on 29 October 2026 (Asia/Shanghai). A fee, an hour cap, and an application window belong to the office named in the link. If a date has passed, or a line on a visa note looks incomplete, the page says so. None of this is a placement or a group visit DragonTrail can reserve, and none of it is legal advice.

Non-Chinese citizens under 55 with a doctoral degree or the title of associate professor or higher. Application fee RMB 400, non-refundable. Research fee 3,320 RMB a month. Apply at least 3 months ahead. A letter of admission normally takes 4 to 8 weeks. Duration may be a few months, one semester, or one year. The page advises finding a supervisor first. — retrieved 29 October 2026 (Asia/Shanghai)
- 北京大学 Senior Visiting Student Program, page time 2023-02-01, still showing these figures when read on 29 October 2026. Non-Chinese citizens under 50 with a master’s degree or above. Application fee 400 RMB, non-refundable. Humanities 30,000 RMB an academic year. Science 34,000 RMB an academic year. Research proposal at least 1,000 characters. Application window 1–31 March. Fall semester usually begins in September. The page’s own visa line says X1 for study over 6 months and X2 for under 6 months, which is not the same clock as 180 days. — retrieved 29 October 2026 (Asia/Shanghai)
- 北京大学 Law School — International Visiting Scholars Program. No fee and no financial assistance. Invitation letters only for a 90-day single-entry visa. Spring deadline is 31 October of the previous year, for three months between March and June. Fall deadline is 31 May, for three months between September and December. Mail pkulaweao@law.pku.edu.cn and name a faculty collaborator. On 29 October 2026 the printed spring deadline for a 2027 visit was two days away. The Z reminder, as fetched, prints “000 days”; that is not a stay length used here. — retrieved 29 October 2026 (Asia/Shanghai)
FAQ
Will DragonTrail rewrite my CV and find me a job?
No. No placement or host availability is confirmed here; contact the institution before making travel arrangements. A CV sent to us is not an application to a university or an employer.
What does Peking University actually ask for?
The research and senior pages ask for a proposal of at least 1,000 characters, two original references, degree evidence, and two full sets. The Law School asks for a CV plus a named faculty collaborator. Match the desk.
Are the reference letters allowed to be emails?
On the fee pages, no. They must be originals, not a copy, a scan, or an email. The Law School allows a supervisor to email its own mailbox. Use the rule for the desk you chose.
Is there an interview format I should practice?
No format was printed on the cited sources. The research scholar page says the college decides from your record and that you should know a professor first. Confirm current requirements and availability directly with the relevant institution.
Can I list a future lab as experience?
No. A proposal is a plan. Article 21’s certificates come after study, from the school. Do not put a host on a CV until that host has accepted you.
Does a job offer replace a work permit?
No. The Sweden note asks Z applicants for a Notification Letter of Foreigner's Work Permit. An offer email is not that letter. Article 30 still forbids employment during study.
Should I pay the 400 RMB application fee early?
The page says the fee is non-refundable and that an unpaid file is not accepted. Pay only when the file matches the desk. DragonTrail does not collect it.
What should I ask in a career conversation?
Ask who supervises you, the dates, whether money moves toward you or toward the school, and which visa paper will be signed. Write the answers down. We cannot sit the meeting for you.
