Creative and Media Internships

Creative and media internships in China are not a list of studios. No placement or host availability is confirmed here; contact the institution before making travel arrangements. A commercial performance has its own paper on the embassy note, and that paper is not a student placement.

Information checked 29 October 2026 (Asia/Shanghai).

DragonTrail has no creative host. The Sweden note dated 2026/10/12 lists an approval document for commercial performances, for Z stays over 90 days and, separately, under 90 days. 北京大学 Law School’s visiting scholar page is legal research, not a media desk, and it charges no fee. Do not mix those pages into a creative internship.

At a Glance

Who this is forPeople looking for a studio, newsroom, or production month in China. No placement or host availability is confirmed here; contact the institution before making travel arrangements.
ClockCommercial performance approvals and J visas for journalists are embassy lines. They are not a student internship calendar.
MoneyThe Law School visiting page charges no fee and offers no stipend. DragonTrail has no creative program price.
Who decidesA school, if it writes the hour into a teaching plan. A culture authority, if the trip is a commercial performance. Not DragonTrail.
PapersFor Z performance work, the approval the Sweden note names. For the Law School, a named faculty collaborator and a recommendation. We issue neither.
OutcomeNo byline, no screening, and no showreel credit. A voluntary campus activity is not a commission.
Easy to mix upTreating an unpaid set as automatically legal, or treating the Law School’s 90-day invitation as a media placement.
Worked exampleA law researcher may write to pkulaweao@law.pku.edu.cn about a visiting scholar stay. A film student should not use that mailbox as a studio.
What we do not doDragonTrail does not book a newsroom, a set, or a gallery, and does not decide whether a concert needs a performance approval.

No Studio Was Named

There is no magazine, film set, design studio, game company, or gallery on this page. Confirm current requirements and availability directly with the relevant institution. A “creative internship” sold as a city aesthetic trip is not a placement. If a school later puts a studio hour inside a teaching plan, that hour belongs to the school’s Article 20 sentence. It was not in front of us on 29 October 2026.

A Performance Approval Is Not an Internship

The Sweden note lists, for some Z applicants, an approval document for commercial performances issued by the culture and tourism authorities. The same kind of document appears on the under-90-day Z list. Those lines are about people going to China to perform commercially. They are not a student media month and not a letter DragonTrail can request. A school concert is not automatically that document. We do not decide which events need it.

Journalism Visas Are a Different Category

The same embassy note describes J1 and J2 for journalists, with a visa notification from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs information department and a letter from the media organization. J1 is for a stay over 180 days, J2 for no more than 180 days. An internship in a newsroom is not automatically J, and a student visa is not a press pass. Confirm the applicable local requirements with the receiving institution. Do not arrive expecting to report as press because you read this page.

The Law School Desk Is Not a Studio

北京大学 Law School hosts a limited number of international visiting scholars, by email to pkulaweao@law.pku.edu.cn, with a CV, a research description, dates, a named faculty collaborator, and a recommendation. It charges no fee and gives no financial help. The invitation supports a 90-day single-entry visa only. Spring visitors pick three months from March to June. Fall visitors pick three months from September to December. That is legal research, not a creative internship.

Unpaid Creative Work Can Still Be the Wrong Permission

A studio that says the month is unpaid has not answered Article 30. Employment and commercial activity are forbidden during study even when no wage is offered. 勤工助学, where it applies, is the capped, school-run allowance, and it expects lawful pay under the 2021 measures. An unpaid film set is not described there. Ask which rule the studio thinks it is using. If it cannot say, do not go.

Nothing Here Fills a Showreel

This page does not confirm a credit, a byline, a screening, or a client. You should not add a Chinese studio to a showreel from these paragraphs. Article 26 allows voluntary public-benefit and cultural activities the school encourages, which is not a commission. Ask a real host for the supervisor, the hours, and the visa paper. The Law School’s spring deadline of 31 October of the previous year, read on 29 October 2026, was two days away for a 2027 spring visit. We do not say that inbox was still open.

Sources

These pages were read on 29 October 2026 (Asia/Shanghai). A fee, an hour cap, and an application window belong to the office named in the link. If a date has passed, or a line on a visa note looks incomplete, the page says so. None of this is a placement or a group visit DragonTrail can reserve, and none of it is legal advice.

FAQ

Which studios offer creative internships?

None are named. No placement or host availability is confirmed here; contact the institution before making travel arrangements. DragonTrail does not keep a creative roster. Confirm the receiving organization before making travel arrangements.

Is a commercial performance an internship?

The Sweden note lists a culture-and-tourism approval for some people going to perform commercially, on the Z lists. That is not a student placement and not a paper we can request.

Do journalism internships use a J visa?

J1 and J2 on that note are for journalists, with a foreign-ministry notification and a letter from the media organization. A student internship is not automatically J. Confirm the applicable local requirements with the receiving institution. The embassy decides.

Can I use the Law School visiting program as a media stay?

No. That page is for legal research with a named faculty collaborator. It charges no fee and supports only a 90-day single-entry invitation. It is not a studio.

Are unpaid creative months allowed?

Unpaid does not answer Article 30, which forbids employment and commercial activity during study. The work-study measures describe paid, capped, school-run activity. An unpaid set is not that sentence.

Will this page give me a showreel credit?

No. No host confirmed a byline, a screening, or a client. Do not add a studio to a reel from this page.

What was the Law School deadline as of 29 October 2026?

The page says spring applications are due 31 October of the previous year. On 29 October 2026 that date for a spring 2027 visit was two days away. We do not know if mail sent that day was in time, and we do not say the window was open.

What should I ask a creative host?

Ask who supervises the month, whether it is teaching practice, work-study, a performance, or a job, and which visa paper they will sign. If they cannot name the paper, do not travel on a guess.

Compare study routes, or tell us the season, the field, and whether you need a teaching placement, a research visit, or help reading an authorization rule. Neither button enrolls you, finds an employer, or decides a visa category.
