Technology and Engineering Internships
Technology and engineering internships in China are not listed on a DragonTrail roster. No placement or host availability is confirmed here; contact the institution before making travel arrangements.
Information checked 29 October 2026 (Asia/Shanghai).
No placement or host availability is confirmed here; contact the institution before making travel arrangements. The summer lab exempts application and tuition fees, awards no credit, and names no firm. Hazardous production work is barred by the 2021 勤工助学 measures. A factory floor is not something this page can clear.
At a Glance
| Who this is for | Students and engineers looking for a technology month in China. No placement or host availability is confirmed here; contact the institution before making travel arrangements. |
|---|---|
| Clock | The lab is a short research stay. It does not follow the 8-hour work-study cap because it is not described as work-study. A company month is a different permission. |
| Money | Application and tuition fees for the summer lab are exempted on the program list. No stipend is printed. DragonTrail has no engineering fee. |
| Who decides | 北京大学 professors, if they accept you into the lab. No placement or host availability is confirmed here; contact the institution before making travel arrangements. The consulate stamps any visa. |
| Papers | The lab’s own application, which the list does not spell out in full. For a job, a work-permit notification. We hold neither. |
| Outcome | No credit, no course, and no promised portfolio piece. A supervisor who has not written yes is not a supervisor. |
| Easy to mix up | Turning the summer lab into a named tech internship, or treating hazardous plant work as ordinary work-study. |
| Worked example | A science student may ask 北京大学 about the summer lab. A student who wants a company codebase should not cite the lab as that company. |
| What we do not do | DragonTrail does not place engineers, clear a factory visit, or guarantee a publication. |
The Summer Lab Is Research, Not a Firm
北京大学’s visiting-student list launches an International Summer Lab so professors and international students in science and engineering can do short research. The same paragraph says courses will not be taken and credits will not be earned. Application and tuition fees are exempted. There is no job title, no codebase, and no company address. Calling it a software internship adds a host the list does not have. The phone on the list is 86-10-62751230.
Dangerous Production Is Out of Bounds
The 2021 measures say the school must not arrange or authorize toxic, harmful, or dangerous production work, and must make sure insurance covers the work-study activity. An engineering internship that puts a student on a hazardous line is outside that sentence even before visa questions start. Confirm the applicable local requirements with the receiving institution. Do not treat this page as a safety clearance.
A Full-Time Engineering Month Is Not the Cap
Where work-study applies, hours are generally 8 a week and 40 a month, or 16 and 80 in a vacation. An engineering team that expects you every weekday is not inside those numbers. Off-campus conditions still include a year already enrolled, age 18, and more than six months left on a study residence document, plus a ten-day annotation. A visitor who has never enrolled at the Chinese school cannot borrow those conditions.
Work in a Company Still Points at Z
If the engineering month is work, the Sweden note dated 2026/10/12 points at Z and a Notification Letter of Foreigner's Work Permit. The note also lists a narrow paper for offshore petroleum technicians, issued by China National Offshore Oil Corporation. That line is not a general engineering internship and not an invitation we can write. Confirm the applicable local requirements with the receiving institution.
Language of the Lab Is Not Stated as English
The summer-lab paragraph does not say the research is conducted in English. Article 18 says the common language of instruction for international students in higher education is the national common language, and that a school may offer courses in a foreign language if it is able. A lab that never says which language you will use has not promised English. Ask before you assume you can follow a stand-up meeting.
No Portfolio Piece Is Guaranteed
The summer lab does not promise a paper, a patent, or a code sample you can publish. Article 21’s certificates are the school’s academic documents, not a reference from an engineering manager. There is no DragonTrail mentor. If a professor has not agreed in writing to supervise you, you do not have an engineering internship. The research scholar page, which is a different product, tells applicants to find a supervisor first. The same caution belongs here.

If a date has passed, or a line on a visa note looks incomplete, the page says so. None of this is a placement or a group visit DragonTrail can reserve, and none of it is legal advice.

The International Summer Lab takes no courses and awards no credits, and application and tuition fees are exempted. Phone on the page: 86-10-62751230. This is 北京大学’s list, not a placement DragonTrail holds. — retrieved 29 October 2026 (Asia/Shanghai)
FAQ
Which technology companies hire interns through DragonTrail?
None. No placement or host availability is confirmed here; contact the institution before making travel arrangements. The summer lab at 北京大学 is research with professors, and it names no firm. Confirm current requirements and availability directly with the relevant institution.
Does the summer lab award credit or a course grade?
The program list says courses will not be taken and credits will not be earned. It also says application and tuition fees are exempted. That is the whole commercial sentence on that list.
Can work-study put me on a factory line?
The 2021 measures bar the school from arranging toxic, harmful, or dangerous production work. A hazardous line is not a placement this page can approve. No placement or host availability is confirmed here; contact the institution before making travel arrangements.
Is a full-time engineering internship inside the hour cap?
No. The cap, where it applies, is generally 8 hours a week in term and 16 in a vacation. A weekday engineering seat is outside that cap and needs its own permission.
What visa would company engineering work need?
The Sweden note treats work as Z and asks for a Notification Letter of Foreigner's Work Permit. A narrow offshore-petroleum letter is also listed. That letter is not a general engineering pass. The embassy decides.
Will the lab be in English?
The summer-lab paragraph does not say. Article 18 says the ordinary teaching language is the national common language, with foreign-language courses only where the school can offer them. Ask the lab.
Can I publish what I build?
The lab page does not promise a paper, a patent, or a code sample. Do not plan a portfolio piece until a supervisor has agreed in writing. DragonTrail is not that supervisor.
What should I ask an engineering host?
Ask who supervises you, whether the month is research, teaching practice, or a job, what the hours are, and which visa paper they will support. If they mention a factory, ask how hazardous work is excluded.
