Central Lakes and Rivers
The Two Rivers and Four Lakes system runs through central Guilin and connects several of the city’s most familiar waterfront views. You can experience part of this area simply by walking around the central lakes. A sightseeing cruise is optional. You do not need to take a cruise simply because it appears on a packaged itinerary.
Elephant Trunk Hill: The Easy Central Stop
Elephant Trunk Hill sits in central Guilin beside the Li River and is the city’s most recognizable natural landmark.

Reed Flute Cave is about 5 km northwest of central Guilin.
The visitor route passes through a limestone cave with stalactites, stone pillars and other formations highlighted by colored lighting.
A normal visit takes around one hour inside the cave.
Because it sits outside the main central walking area, it makes more sense when you have a full sightseeing day or convenient transport.
If you only have a short arrival afternoon, do not rush across the city simply to add it.
Reed Flute Cave and the Li River are two different types of karst experience. Visiting the cave does not replace the landscape you see later between Guilin and Yangshuo.
