Why is this confusion so common?
Because 'Beijing Great Wall' is the common search term, and several famous sections genuinely are inside Beijing municipality. But Beijing municipality is administratively large - it includes mountains and farmland 80-100 km out - so 'in Beijing' here doesn't mean 'inside the ring road'. And several equally famous sections sit just over the line in Hebei.
