Who to call
| Topic | What to confirm | Who owns it |
|---|---|---|
| Ambulance, police, fire | 120, 110, 119, plus any campus extension | Local emergency services |
| Facility | The international number they gave you | That hospital |
| Insurer | The assistance number on your card | Your insurer |
| DragonTrail | Planning mailbox, after help is called | Not an emergency desk |
Use local emergency services first. A travel email is not an emergency line, and this page is not medical advice.
Who do we call in an emergency, and who do we not wait for?
On the mainland, the public numbers widely published by local governments are 120 for an ambulance, 110 for the police, and 119 for fire. Confirm the card in your hotel and the campus welcome sheet in case they list an internal extension that is faster on their grounds. Last reviewed 28 October 2026. If a notice at the campus disagrees, follow the campus notice and call 120 if you need an ambulance.
Save, on paper, the hotel desk, the facility’s international phone, your insurer’s assistance number, and your embassy or consulate. The companion should be able to dial without searching a translation app. US State Department and UK FCDO pages tell their citizens how to reach consular help. Other passports should use their own foreign ministry.
Do not write to DragonTrail and wait if someone needs emergency care. Our contact mailbox is for planning. We do not dispatch ambulances and we do not give clinical instructions by email. After the emergency services and the facility have been called, a companion may tell us that a hotel or a transfer needs to change.
Show the driver the Chinese address of the campus before an ordinary appointment so you are not searching for it under stress. Hospital accompaniment is a planned escort, not an emergency response. For Hainan stays, keep the Boao or Haikou address you were given, not a resort pin from a different city.

- DragonTrail email only after emergency help is already called

Questions people ask
- No. Call 120 for an ambulance. Email us later if a booking has to change.
- Use the campus number and 120. A printed welcome sheet from that facility outranks a general article.
- No. This page does not assess symptoms. Contact local emergency services or the facility.
- Call emergency services first if the need is urgent. The insurer’s assistance line is for their process, in parallel once help is on the way.
Talk to the medical desk
The medical desk coordinates logistics after a facility has its own plan. It does not diagnose, quote a treatment, or decide entry.
