Ski slopes at Nanshan Ski Resort, Beijing

Nanshan Ski Resort: plan a winter day before the season opens

  • Self-guided visit planning
  • Practical tickets, routes, and timing
  • Optional private tours and quotes

Quick Answer

Treat Nanshan as a dedicated Miyun ski day and wait for the resort’s own 2026–27 opening notice before you lock transport.

Tickets are directed to the official 南山滑雪 WeChat channel. Admission, lifts, rental and lessons are separate products. Last winter’s session times, including night skiing, do not book this season.

A ski-day planning guide, checked before the season

Nanshan is a winter skiing destination in Miyun. For a 2026–27 trip, wait for the resort’s season announcement before committing to a ski date. Confirm the slopes, lessons and sessions available for that date rather than assuming the resort’s entire winter program begins at once. Use this planning checklist to settle the essentials before paying for transport or activities.

Beijing’s December 2025 visitor information describes skiing and instruction at Nanshan. Those reports concern the previous winter. A past schedule can explain the type of outing, but it should not be used to book the next season or promise that the same terrain and services will be available.

Wait for Nanshan’s own 2026–27 opening notice before you book a Miyun day around last winter’s session times. Night skiing from a previous season does not book this one.

Nanshan is a dedicated Miyun ski day, not a city ice rink and not a sightseeing stop you add because the map still shows mountains north of Beijing. For a 2026–27 trip, wait for the resort’s own opening notice before you lock a date, a lesson or a car. A December 2025 visitor report can tell you that skiing and instruction exist at Nanshan. It cannot book this season’s slopes, night sessions or rental desk.

Confirm the product for the date you will actually stand on snow: which slopes are open, whether beginner terrain is included, whether a lesson is available, and which session you are buying. Resorts often open in stages. The first weekend of a season is not automatically a full mountain with night skiing and every rental size. Treat last winter’s photographs as atmosphere, not as an inventory.

Use this page as a checklist you finish before paying for transport. If the opening notice is not out yet, keep the hotel and the rest of the Beijing week flexible enough to move the ski day. If you want us to hold a Miyun car, send the date only after the resort has published the season you are traveling in — or ask us to quote a plan that stays conditional on that notice.

Start with the resort’s own announcement

The operator’s website directs ticket customers to the official 南山滑雪 WeChat channel. Use the current season notice and the product for your actual date. Check the opening announcement, session time and terrain available before making transport arrangements that would be difficult to change.

Keep a copy of the selected product’s conditions. A resort admission, a lift product, equipment rental and a lesson can describe different services. Ask what is included and how changes or cancellations work; do not infer a complete ski package from a headline price or an old promotional image.

The operator’s website sends ticket customers to the official 南山滑雪 WeChat channel. Start there. Reseller listings, hotel posters and last year’s screenshots are unofficial until the resort says otherwise. Buy the product that matches your date and the session you intend to ski, then keep a copy of the conditions for changes and cancellations.

Admission, lifts, rental and lessons are separate products. A headline that looks like a complete ski day can still leave you without a lift pass, boots or an instructor. Read each line before you pay, and do not infer a package from a promotional image of a crowded night slope. If you are booking for a mixed group, write down who needs which product so you are not sorting it at the rental desk in ski boots.

Make transport the last thing you make hard to change. A car or shuttle that cannot move when the opening date slips is more expensive than waiting two days for the notice. If you want DragonTrail to arrange the ride, we will still point you at the official WeChat channel for the mountain products themselves. The transfer quote is the road to Miyun, not a substitute ski ticket.

Quick facts

  • Resort: Nanshan Ski Resort, a dedicated Miyun day
  • Channel: Official 南山滑雪 WeChat account
  • Products: Admission, lifts, rental and lessons are separate
  • This season: Wait for the 2026–27 opening notice before you lock transport
  • Night skiing: Last winter’s timetable does not book this season

For beginners, organize instruction before ambition

If this is your first time skiing, decide whether a beginner lesson is available and suitable before choosing the rest of the day. Confirm the instructor’s language, lesson format, meeting place and any age requirements for children. Do not assume that a resort offering instruction can supply the exact lesson your group needs on arrival.

Tell the provider your experience honestly. A friend’s confidence is not a substitute for appropriate instruction, and an equipment hire does not establish that a particular slope suits you. Follow the resort’s current rules and the instructor’s directions when choosing terrain; this planning guide does not rate the safety of an individual run.

If this is a first ski day, organize the lesson before you organize ambition. Confirm that a beginner session exists on your date, what language the instructor can use, where you meet, how long the lesson runs and whether children in your group meet the age or height rules. A resort that offered instruction last winter is not a promise of an English-speaking beginner lesson on the afternoon you arrive.

Tell the provider the truth about experience. A friend who “skied once in Europe” is not a group skill level, and hired equipment does not make a particular run suitable. Follow the resort’s current rules and the instructor’s choice of terrain. This page does not rate the safety of an individual slope, and it does not replace the waiver or the briefing you will receive on site.

Non-skiers in the same car need their own plan: where they can sit, whether they may walk in certain areas, and when they will meet the skiers. Do not assume a resort café can occupy someone for an entire session. If the lesson is the reason you are going, say so when you ask about a quote so the return can flex if beginners finish earlier than the last advertised run.

Resolve the rental details before traveling

Check whether skis or a snowboard, boots and a helmet are included, which sizes can be supplied, and what clothing you need to bring. Ask about the deposit, collection process and return deadline. A session ending time may not be the same as the last moment to return hired equipment.

Leave time for fitting and adjustments before a lesson begins. If a piece of equipment is uncomfortable or unsuitable, resolve it with the rental staff rather than trying to work around it on the slope. For mixed skiers and non-skiers, confirm what each person is permitted to do and where they can meet during the day.

Resolve rental details before you travel. Ask whether skis or a snowboard, boots and a helmet are included, which sizes can be supplied, what clothing you must bring, how the deposit works, and when hired equipment must be back. A session end time and a rental-return deadline are not always the same moment. Arriving with only fashion boots and a city coat is how a first hour disappears at the counter.

Leave time to fit and adjust before a lesson starts. If a boot hurts or a binding feels wrong, go back to the rental staff rather than hoping it will settle on the slope. Helmets, goggles and gloves are worth confirming by name. We do not assume any of them sit inside admission. Waterproof layers, extra socks and something dry for the ride home matter more in Miyun than they do on a Beijing sidewalk.

For mixed skiers and boarders, check that the rental desk and the lesson product can handle both, and that the meeting point still works when people finish at different times. Night skiing, when it is offered this season, is a dated session with its own ticket and its own return problem. Last winter’s night hours do not book this one. Wait for the 2026–27 timetable before you plan a late pickup.

Common mistakes

Using last winter’s opening date

The 2026–27 opening is not confirmed by a previous season. Wait for the resort notice.

Buying from a reseller first

Tickets are directed to the official 南山滑雪 WeChat channel.

Assuming rental and lessons are included

Admission, lifts, rental and lessons are separate products.

Leaving Miyun without a return

A ski day ends in the dark in winter. Plan the ride back before you go up.

Arrange the return as carefully as the outward trip

Treat a ski day as a dedicated Miyun outing. Compare the complete round trip from your hotel, including time to collect and return equipment. Do not add a distant sightseeing stop merely because it appears in the same broad northern-Beijing area on a map.

If arranging a car, confirm space for any equipment you bring and an agreed pickup after rental returns. If considering a shuttle, check the current operator timetable, booking requirements and return departure for your session. Night skiing needs its own confirmed return plan. Keep the schedule flexible enough for tired beginners to finish earlier rather than feeling obliged to stay until the last run.

Treat the return as carefully as the outward trip. A ski day ends tired, often after dark, and sometimes later than the session card suggested because rental returns and changing rooms take time. Compare the complete round trip from your hotel, including those extra minutes. Do not add a Great Wall section, a gorge or a second Miyun sight merely because the map still looks “north of Beijing.”

If you are arranging a car, confirm space for any equipment you bring from the hotel, an agreed pickup point after rental returns, and a way to reach the driver when gloves make phone use awkward. If you are considering a shuttle, check the current operator, the booking rule and the return departure that matches your session. We do not publish a shuttle minute here because those products change with the season.

Keep the evening after Nanshan quiet. Beginners should be allowed to finish early without feeling they have wasted a transfer. Night skiing needs a confirmed ride back, not a hope that a city taxi will be waiting in Miyun. If you want us to hold that return, send the hotel, the session you bought on the official 南山滑雪 channel, and whether anyone in the group is a first-time skier.

Write PEK or PKX if the ski day sits next to a flight. Miyun is the wrong place to discover you still have a Daxing transfer. We would rather move the ski date than stack it against a tight airport clock.
