Yanqing National Alpine Skiing Centre: Public Skiing Guide
The National Alpine Skiing Centre, or Snow Flying Swallow, offers a mountain setting and Beijing 2022 alpine heritage. Recreational skiing is documented, but venue access never means every Olympic course is open to every visitor.
Planning for 2026–27 · Research checked . Operating details remain subject to confirmation; dated historical evidence is identified below.

Public skiing, with specific terrain permissions
Beijing government confirms designated public skiing, including learning areas. Confident skiers interested in the Olympic setting have a clear reason to visit; beginners should book suitable learning terrain and instruction. Ask about ticket zones, ability assessments and training or event closures. A sightseeing gondola ticket, park admission and ski product can have different rights. Beijing public-skiing announcement
Yanqing station still needs a mountain transfer
Editorial road allowances are 2–2½ hours from central Beijing, 2–3 hours from PEK and 2½–3½ hours from PKX. Weather, traffic and the final approach can extend these estimates; airport processing is additional.
Look for Yanqing station and the exact Beijing departure station on the ticket. Provisionally allow 45–90 minutes on the selected train, followed by 40–60 minutes by vehicle to the designated park arrival point. Park circulation and lifts add another stage. Official Olympic-era route information establishes the station approach, not a current shuttle timetable. Beijing Sports Bureau route background
Phased openings and an Olympic Zone base
Check both 2026–27 operating dates and the particular terrain you intend to use. High-mountain weather can change skiing even when the village is accessible. Olympic Zone accommodation reduces repeat travel, while Yanqing town adds a daily drive. The IOC documents the former village's incorporation into the public destination. IOC Yanqing legacy
Confirm equipment sizes, helmet, rental return time and the exact lesson meeting point. English instruction must be confirmed independently of transport or English travel coordination.
Two days with one clear ski objective
Travel on the first morning, check in and complete a suitable introductory session or separately ticketed sightseeing visit. Use the second morning for the main ski session, with an equipment-return cutoff before the transfer. A day trip should prioritise skiing or broad venue sightseeing rather than assume both fit.
Questions before booking
- Yes. Designated public skiing is confirmed by Beijing government; current terrain and ticket terms still need checking.
- Do not assume so. Book appropriate learning terrain and follow ability and access restrictions.
- No such guarantee exists. Weather, preparation, training and events can restrict access.
