Scenic-Area Orientation

Most Zhangjiajie trip planning breaks down into three separate scenic areas, each with its own ticket and travel time:

• Wulingyuan Scenic Area / National Forest Park: the sandstone pillar landscape, about 35 km from the city, including Yuanjiajie, Tianzi Mountain, and Golden Whip Stream.
• Tianmen Mountain: a standalone mountain at the edge of Zhangjiajie city (Yongding District), with a long cable car and glass skywalk.
• Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Glass Bridge: a separate scenic area in Cili County, roughly 30–40 minutes from Wulingyuan.

Choose by Number of Days

• 1 day: focus on one area only — Wulingyuan or Tianmen Mountain.
• 2 days: one day at Wulingyuan (Yuanjiajie plus Tianzi Mountain or Golden Whip Stream) and one day at Tianmen Mountain.
• 3 days: add the Grand Canyon Glass Bridge as a half-day extension from a Wulingyuan base.
• 4+ days: slow the pace inside Wulingyuan and build in a weather/mist buffer day.

Where Should You Stay?

Two common bases: near Wulingyuan (Wulingyuan town / Suoxiyu) for a forest-park-first plan, or the city center (Yongding District, close to the airport and railway station) for a Tianmen-first plan or easier arrival transit. Main Planning Constraints

• Three separate scenic areas need separate tickets and separate travel time — they do not share one entrance.
• Weather and mist can affect visibility at any time of year, and severe weather can occasionally pause outdoor walkways or cable cars.
• Hehua Airport (DYG) and Zhangjiajie West Railway Station sit in the city center, about 35 km from Wulingyuan.
