Yes. When booked through DragonTrail, the calligraphy, dumpling-making session and lunch are arranged for your party rather than a public join-in group.

How Long Does It Take?

The standard activity lasts approximately 3–4 hours. Any hotel transfer or sightseeing add-on is arranged separately and is not part of that window.

What Parts of the Dumpling-Making Process Are Hands-On?

On the standard format, dough is usually prepared in advance. Rolling wrappers, preparing the filling, folding and cooking are hands-on. Exact steps are confirmed before booking.

Can Dietary Requirements Be Accommodated?

Tell us your dietary requirements before booking. We confirm available fillings, sauces, accompanying dishes and any limits before payment. The kitchen is not described as allergen-free.

Is It Suitable for Children?

Often, depending on the child’s age, supervision needs and comfort around kitchen equipment. Send children’s ages with your inquiry so we can confirm the format.

Is Hotel Pickup Included?

Not in the base experience. Private hotel pickup or round-trip transfer can be quoted separately where available.

Can This Be Combined with Beijing Sightseeing?

Often, depending on start time, hotel location and the attraction you want to add. Share your wider itinerary and we will check what is realistic.

Can we include Chinese paper cutting?

You can request it. Write “paper cutting” in the optional note when you inquire, and we will check whether a short activity is available for your date and host. We will confirm any change to the activity flow, duration or price before payment. It is not included unless confirmed in your booking.

What You’ll Do

A one-venue cultural session: a hands-on cultural activity, make dumplings and finish with a local lunch.

Cultural Activity
Practise calligraphy (default), or choose paper cutting or Peking Opera mask painting.
Make Dumplings
Roll wrappers, prepare the filling, fold the dumplings and help cook them. The dough is normally prepared before the session.
Enjoy Lunch
Enjoy the dumplings you made together with a selection of accompanying dishes and tea or water.
