Dalian is a port city spread along hills and headlands at the tip of the Liaodong Peninsula, with a business waterfront, a long coastal road and Lushun at the far end. Airport, stations and the port
Dalian Zhoushuizi International Airport (DLC) is close to the city, roughly 10 km from Zhongshan Square. A large offshore airport is under construction at Jinzhou Bay, but it is not open, and all flights still use Zhoushuizi. Send the flight number and the full hotel address. A one-way transfer to one hotel in Zhongshan, Xigang or Shahekou is a direct ride, with no sightseeing on the way.
Dalian North is the main high-speed station, on the north side of the city. Dalian Station is the older central station at Qingniwaqiao. Copy the station name from your ticket. Cruise ships and ferries to Yantai and Weihai use Dalian Port near Donggang; send the ship or sailing name and the arrival time.
The center, the High-tech Zone and beyond
Central Dalian is Zhongshan, Xigang and Shahekou: Zhongshan Square, Russian Street, Donggang, Xinghai Square and Binhai Road. The High-tech Zone with its software parks runs west along the coast toward Hekou. These are the areas used for the city-day prices.
The Jinzhou development zone and Jinshitan lie to the north-east, and Lushun sits at the south-western tip. Each is a separate quote. Line 2 links the airport, Dalian North and the center; Line 3 runs to Jinshitan; Line 12 runs from Hekou to Lushun; and Line 5 crosses the bay to the Tiger Beach area. Some suburban lines stop earlier in the evening, so check current hours.
Weather
Dalian is milder than inland Liaoning, but winter is still cold and windy, especially on Binhai Road. July and August are peak beach season, and roads to the coast are busy on weekends.

Choose three or four sites rather than trying to see everything. Baiyu Mountain gives the classic view over the harbor mouth. The museums and the prison site take an hour or two each, and the war sites are short walks on hillsides. Check opening days, reserve where required, and carry your passport.
