Keketuohai Ski Guide: A Fuyun Mountain Stay

Keketuohai, also written Koktokay, rewards a longer skiing-focused stay. Choose the correct town base and allow time for the final mountain approach; reaching Fuyun County is only part of the journey.

A dedicated mountain-ski holiday

The resort lies in the mountainous Keketuohai geopark area. Substantial vertical relief and a long natural-snow season make it worth considering for intermediate and advanced visitors with several days available. These geographical features do not guarantee powder or full terrain. First-timers should confirm the beginner area and ski school before committing to a remote stay. Official geopark

Opened on 20 October; check the actual terrain

A government-hosted Xinjiang Daily report confirms the 2026–27 opening on 20 October 2026. It does not establish every lift, beginner slope or spring closing date. Ask for the current operating bulletin. 22 October opening report

A December 2025 resort notice directed inexperienced visitors to the school and beginner area and said off-piste areas were closed. That is historical guidance, not a live closure report. Follow current signs and patrol instructions. Resort safety notice

Fuyun arrival and the final mountain leg

Check Fuyun Koktokay Airport (FYN) first, but do not assume daily flights. Fuyun station is a rail alternative; consult 12306 for your date rather than copying a historical timetable. Fuyun tourism transport guide

Editorial winter allowances: 1½–2½ hours from the airport or station to Keketuohai town, then approximately 30–60 minutes more for the resort approach and any required shuttle. From Altay, provisionally allow 4–6 hours to the town/base area. Agree whether the quote ends at your hotel, a parking area or the ski hall. Add time for arrival formalities and closures; do not book a lesson immediately after arrival.

Stay in the right town

Keketuohai town and Fuyun county town are different accommodation bases. Compare daily pickup distance, heating, hot water, boot drying, breakfast and shuttle return times. Ski-in/ski-out access must be verified against the individual property.

Confirm rental sizes and an authorized instructor before committing. Historical international instructor training does not establish English lessons now. Ask for teaching language, level, duration, equipment inclusions and cancellation terms in writing.

Five or six days with weather flexibility

Day 1: transfer and settle in. Days 2–3: orientation or lessons followed by skiing. Day 4: flexible ski/rest day. Day 5: additional skiing if conditions allow. Day 6: departure. For an important flight, consider moving closer to the airport the preceding night. General geopark sightseeing is covered separately in the Fuyun/Keketuohai guide.
