Social sciences in China is an umbrella, and the priced pages use narrower titles. 北京师范大学’s 2026 catalog lists Sociology in the School of Sociology for international undergraduates, in Chinese, on a brochure that closed on 15 March 2026. 对外经济贸易大学 prices Public Administration at 85,000 RMB for a two-year English master’s. Neither page enrolls a student in “social sciences” as such.

DragonTrail has no social-science cohort. We will not assign BNU’s 24,000 RMB humanities band to sociology until the catalog cell says so. The science band is 27,700 RMB and is the wrong assumption for a reader who has not opened the PDF. UIBE’s 85,000 figure comes from semester lines of 45,000 and 40,000. A 5,000 RMB thesis fee is printed beside it, and its inclusion is unclear. A survey project or a company visit is not this degree.

The Umbrella Does Not Appear on the Form

Social sciences in China is how a reader searches. The forms we opened ask for Sociology, Public Administration, Customs Administration, or a named politics major. Beijing Normal University lists the School of Sociology on the 2026 international catalog. The brochure’s bachelor’s is four years in Chinese. HSK 5 at 180 applies, with a test date no earlier than 1 November 2023. You may apply for two majors and then sit two interviews. “Social sciences” is not one of the 40 majors the brochure counts.

The fee sentence that contains the words social sciences is the humanities band: 24,000 RMB a year, 12,400 a semester. That sentence is real. It is not the same as a digit printed on the sociology row. Science, engineering, and arts are 27,700. Psychology at BNU has its own 80 percent mathematics and physics rule and sits nearer the science side. Do not drag that rule onto sociology. Natural Sciences keeps the psychology average. The Sociology File Closed With the Rest of BNU

Online applications ran from 15 November 2025 to 15 March 2026. The fee was 500 RMB and was not refundable. The personal statement was handwritten in Chinese. Paper originals followed or the office stopped. CSCA subjects come from the catalog row, which we will not invent. Results were notified from June 2026. Beijing dorm booking ended on 15 August 2026. On 29 October 2026 the intake is over. The Chinese brochure wins a conflict with the English. Age, passport, and the ministry nationality test are the same brochure-wide rules, including birth after 31 August 1986.

Scholarships named there, including the Chinese Government Scholarship and the Beijing government scholarship, do not reopen the date. Mail to A103, Main Building, 19 Xinjiekouwai Street, only if a new notice tells you to. bk@bnu.edu.cn was the admission address on the brochure we read. DragonTrail is not a second recipient. False materials can cancel admission or, later, student status. Simultaneous enrollment at two schools is forbidden. Those rules are about honesty, not about how interesting the research topic is.

Public Administration Is the Priced Policy Degree

If the goal is a master’s in public policy rather than a sociology bachelor’s, UIBE’s English page is the one with a number. Public Administration (IMPA) is priced with Customs Administration at 85,000 RMB for two years. We add 45,000 and 40,000 to reach that figure because the headline spacing is messy. The credit price is 2,000 RMB, unlike 2,680 on several neighboring majors. A thesis-defense fee of 5,000 RMB is in the same parenthesis. Ask whether you pay it on top. We will not decide.

International Relations and International Development are named and fall toward the residual 99,160 RMB line for other English majors. They are not sociology, and they are not automatically IMPA. The full comparison sits on International Relations and Public Policy. A bachelor’s degree is required. There is no entrance examination for these English-taught graduate courses. TOEFL 86 or IELTS 6.0 still applies. The 660 RMB fee and the 10,000 RMB advance are not refundable. Windows say each year and do not name 2027. Check the form on the day you pay.

Nearby Titles That Are Not Sociology

BLCU prints Psychology (Brain Science and Intelligent Engineering) at HSK 5 at 180 and 25,800 RMB a year. That is a science-flavoured psychology title. It is not the BNU School of Sociology. BLCU also prints International Politics at HSK 5 at 200. That is a politics title. Filing either one because “social” appears in your search terms is how the wrong HSK floor gets used. The BLCU deadlines we read have passed, and the English and Chinese pages disagree on the September year.

UIBE’s undergraduate International Politics line is 49,750 RMB a year in English with CSCA Mathematics. It is a bachelor’s of politics, not a sociology degree, and not the IMPA master’s. Economics at the same undergraduate price is a third title. Economics holds it. A reader who only knows the search phrase should write the parchment words before opening a form. The city, Beijing in every example above, does not choose the words.

Methods, Fieldwork, and What the Brochure Skips

A sociology degree often implies methods, statistics, and fieldwork. The admissions pages we read do not print the methods sequence. They print entry rules. Ask the department for the plan after you know the major is open. We will not invent a thesis length or a required internship. A company visit arranged as travel is not fieldwork credit. DragonTrail does not place fieldworkers and does not run surveys.

Ethics review for research with people is the university’s, if the program requires it. Nothing on the fee page describes an ethics board. Do not assume a foreign IRB transfers. Housing, insurance, and an X1 visa follow the admission pack. BNU describes the visa and the 24-hour police registration for off-campus rooms. UIBE’s master’s fee block does not repeat that paragraph. Use the pack you receive. Cost of Studying adds living costs after tuition is a real cell, not an umbrella.

Search Again With the Major Name

Replace “social sciences” with Sociology, Public Administration, or the politics title you mean. Then match one number: an unconfirmed BNU cell inside a 24,000 or 27,700 band, or UIBE’s 85,000 for two years, or BLCU’s 25,800 for a psychology row that is not sociology. League labels do not break the tie. Universities and Schools keeps 双一流 and 985 as glossary because BNU’s brochure uses them about itself. We do not publish an order of social-science faculties.

Not on the pages we priced. BNU lists Sociology. UIBE lists Public Administration and other named master’s titles. Search with the major name before you pay a fee.

What is the public administration tuition?

85,000 RMB for two years at UIBE, from semester lines of 45,000 and 40,000. A 5,000 RMB thesis-defense fee is printed and may or may not be inside that total. Ask before you add it.

How much is BNU sociology?

The brochure’s humanities and social sciences band is 24,000 RMB a year. We did not see a clean digit on the sociology row. The 2026 window closed on 15 March 2026, so the next PDF is the one that matters.

Does psychology count as this page?

BLCU’s psychology row is a different major at 25,800 RMB with HSK 5 at 180. BNU psychology has an 80 percent mathematics and physics rule and is treated with the natural sciences. Neither is the School of Sociology.

Is the UIBE master’s window dated?

It says each year, 20 October to 31 December and 20 March to 30 June. It does not name the intake. Confirm the form. Do not treat 29 October 2026 as proof a cohort is open.

What HSK score did sociology use?

The BNU brochure uses HSK 5 at 180 for majors other than two Chinese-teaching exceptions. Sociology is not those exceptions. The certificate date must be no earlier than 1 November 2023 on that 2026 file.

What should I send you?

The major title, the fee cell, and, for IMPA, whether the 5,000 RMB thesis fee is extra. We will not rank departments, and we will not submit the file. Sociology’s fee cell was not isolated on the catalog we read. The humanities band of 24,000 RMB a year is a clue on the brochure, not a quote for that row. IMPA’s 85,000 RMB is a different degree at a different university. If the thesis-defense fee sits inside that total, the page still does not say so.
