Communication Is Literature. Film Is Arts.

Media, communications, and film in China split inside one university before they split across the country. Beijing Normal University’s 2026 catalog puts Communication in the School of Journalism and Communication and marks a literature degree. It puts Theatre, Film and TV Literature and Digital Media Arts in the School of Arts and Communication, with the expertise sentence used for fine arts and music, and with 27,700 RMB visible in that arts area. The brochure’s two bands are 24,000 for humanities and social sciences and 27,700 for science, engineering, and arts. A literature award and an arts award may not share a band. Read both cells. Do not pay the arts price for a journalism essay major, or the humanities price for a reel, until the PDF agrees.

Both still use Chinese as the teaching language and four years as the length. HSK 5 at 180 applies. The date on the certificate must be 1 November 2023 or later on that brochure. Supporting materials are named for the arts rows, not as a sentence we saw on Communication. A writing portfolio and a film reel are different files. Music and Performing Arts holds Musicology and Dance. Art and Design holds design. File the row whose degree word you need.

March Closed Both Rows

The online window did not care which school you wanted. It ran from 15 November 2025 to 15 March 2026 for international undergraduates. The fee was 500 RMB, not refundable. The personal statement was handwritten in Chinese. CSCA subjects come from the catalog. The journalism extract mentions liberal-arts Chinese and mathematics. We will not paste that pair onto the film row without the cell. Interviews follow. Two majors, two interviews. Results from June 2026. Dorm booking ended 15 August 2026.

On 29 October 2026 the intake is over. The Chinese brochure prevails. Age was 18 to 40, birth after 31 August 1986. Passport beyond 31 March 2027. Nationality stamps follow 教外函〔2020〕12号 where they apply. The address was A103, Main Building, 19 Xinjiekouwai Street, bk@bnu.edu.cn. A reel sent now is late. Wait for the next notice rather than asking for an exception this article cannot grant.

BLCU’s Two Media Rows Use Two HSK Scores

Journalism and Internet and New Media at BLCU sit with International Politics. The rule is HSK 5 at 200, no part under 60, plus an interview on Chinese and the major. The block prints 25,800 RMB a year. That is a higher HSK floor than BNU’s 180. Digital Media Technology sits instead with Computer Science, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence: HSK 5 at 180, written mathematics and logic, interviews, same 25,800 block. A student who says “digital media” must look at which school name is on the row. Technology is not theatre.

Both BLCU clocks we read have passed: 12 January 2026 and 30 June 2026. The English page labels the June date as September 2025 entry. The Chinese page labels it September 2026. We do not resolve the fight. CSCA is required from fall 2026 and does not delete the written test on the technology row or the interview on the journalism row. The registration fee is 800 RMB. Computer Science in China explains the technology exam so it is not repeated as if it were a film audition.

The Film Academy Gap

A reader who wants directing or cinematography often means the Beijing Film Academy. We did not open an international fee page for it. We will not move BNU’s 27,700 or CAFA’s undated 52,000 onto that academy. CAFA’s 2026 international PDF was not parsed and is an art-school landing page, not a film-school one. If the official film-academy notice is the document you have, it is the source. This article should be cited only for the rows we actually read.

Short documentary workshops and festival volunteer weeks are not these degrees. Ask what paper they issue. DragonTrail does not sell a set visit as credit and does not review a reel. Equipment rental is not in the tuition bands. Cost of Studying can hold a camera budget only as your own estimate, labelled as yours, after tuition is a university cell.

Policy Neighbors Are Not Media Degrees

BLCU’s politics row shares a school name with journalism. UIBE’s International Politics bachelor’s is 49,750 RMB a year in English. Public Administration is 85,000 RMB for two years. None of those is Communication or Theatre and Film Literature. International Relations and Public Policy keeps them. A student who wants to cover politics as a journalist still has to file the journalism row, not the policy row, if the parchment must say journalism.

Scholarships on the BNU brochure do not reopen March and may not cover an arts major the way they cover a Chinese-teaching major. Read the award. The visa is an X1 after admission, with a JW form. There is nothing to attach it to until the next round. False files cancel status. Two enrollments at once are forbidden. Universities and Schools keeps 双一流 as glossary. We will not rank film schools we did not price.

Which File Matches Which Title

Write Communication, Theatre and Film Literature, Digital Media Arts, Journalism, or Digital Media Technology. Then use one HSK floor and one fee. BNU’s closed arts band is 27,700 with a portfolio sentence. BNU’s literature communication row needs its own cell, which may be the 24,000 band. BLCU journalism is 25,800 with HSK 5 at 200, and the deadline has passed. BLCU digital media technology is the mathematics-and-logic exam, not a camera test.
