Computer Science in China

Computer science in China is a major a university agrees to teach, not a DragonTrail lab seat. Two public pages are the dated examples: 北京师范大学 lists Computer Science and Technology for international undergraduates, in Chinese, on a 2026 brochure whose online window closed on 15 March 2026, and 北京语言大学 lists the same major name with HSK 5 at 180 and a written test in mathematics and logic.

Information checked 29 October 2026 (Asia/Shanghai).

DragonTrail has no computer-science intake. Do not mix the two fees. Beijing Normal University’s 2026 brochure prices science, engineering, and arts majors at 27,700 RMB a year. The BLCU entry table prints 25,800 RMB a year on the Computer Science and Technology row. Neither number is ours, and neither university’s closed or undated clock is a seat we can reopen.

Two Universities, One Major Name, Two Fees

Computer science in China is easy to blur because the English words look the same. Beijing Normal University’s catalog puts Computer Science and Technology in the School of Artificial Intelligence and marks the award as engineering. The brochure says the bachelor’s is four years and taught in Chinese, and it prices science, engineering, and arts majors at 27,700 RMB a year, or 14,250 RMB a semester. That band is not the humanities band of 24,000 RMB, and it is not Tsinghua Zijing’s 100,000 RMB engineering year. If the catalog row is later moved, the brochure tells you the catalog wins.

Beijing Language and Culture University’s entry table uses the same English major name in the School of Information Science and prints 25,800 RMB a year on that row, shared in the extract with Digital Media Technology, Data Science and Big Data Technology, and Artificial Intelligence. The conditions are not the same as BNU’s: HSK 5 at 180, then written papers in mathematics and logic, then interviews. Paying 500 RMB to BNU does not file you at BLCU, and paying 800 RMB to BLCU does not file you at BNU. Artificial Intelligence and Data Science is where those neighboring BLCU rows are read on their own.

What the Closed BNU File Actually Asked For

The 2026 BNU brochure limits age to 18 through 40, with a date of birth after 31 August 1986, and it requires a guardian in China if you are under 18 on 1 September 2026. Nationality follows the ministry pattern: a foreign passport, and, where a parent is a Chinese citizen, four years of foreign nationality and two years of actual residence abroad in the four years to 30 April 2026, counted from stamps, nine months as a year. The passport should not expire before 31 March 2027. Those dates belong to the 2026 file. A 2027 brochure can move them.

CSCA is required. The brochure says the catalog, not this paragraph, lists the subjects for each major. After scores exist, you upload the report. There is also a BNU interview, and two majors means two interviews. The personal statement is handwritten in Chinese. The office says a print version will not be accepted. Paper materials must be mailed after the initial review, or the review stops. The 500 RMB fee is not refundable, and an unpaid file is not processed. From June 2026 the office was notifying results. On 29 October 2026 you are late for that intake. Wait for the next brochure rather than mailing a file to a closed round.

The BLCU Written Test Is Not Optional Color

On the BLCU table, Computer Science and Technology is not “HSK and a transcript” alone. The row requires HSK level 5 at 180 or above, written examinations in mathematics and logic, and interviews covering mathematics, logic, and information technology. That is a harder public sentence than the Chinese Language row’s HSK 4 at 180. Do not apply to computing on the language rule because both sit on one university’s website. The registration fee is 800 RMB and is not refundable. Materials in other languages need a notarized Chinese or English translation.

From the fall semester of 2026, the same English page says every international undergraduate applicant must submit CSCA results. It points to csca.cn. It does not, on the computer-science row, replace the written mathematics and logic exams with CSCA. Assume you may be asked for both until a later notice deletes one of them. The English deadline lines had already passed when we checked: 12 January 2026, and 30 June 2026. The Chinese page’s September 2026 label and the English page’s September 2025 label disagree. Quote the page you are filing against, and ask the office which year the June date governed. We will not pretend the two sentences are the same.

What a Computing Brochure Does Not Include

A short coding bootcamp, a company visit, and a bachelor’s in Computer Science and Technology are three products. The pages above are degree brochures. They do not describe a twelve-week certificate, and they do not say DragonTrail teaches the courses. Tsinghua’s 2027 English engineering guide trains information science inside a Bachelor of Engineering. That is an engineering degree with computing content, priced at 100,000 RMB a year, and it is not the BNU or BLCU major name. Use Engineering in China if that parchment is the one you mean.

Home recognition is your problem to check with the body that licenses or employs you. Neither brochure says a foreign computing society must accept the degree. Ask with the curriculum. BNU also says admitted students may not be enrolled in two institutions at once, and that false materials can cancel admission or, if you have already enrolled, student status. BLCU says a missing final diploma before registration cancels the admission. Those are university rules. They are not softened by a city reputation or by a 双一流 label, which stays glossary on Universities and Schools.

Housing Clocks and the Visa Form

BNU’s Beijing dorm booking for students with an electronic admission notice ran from 09:00 on 1 July 2026 to 12:00 on 15 August 2026. That window is over. Full Chinese Government Scholarship and International Chinese Teacher Scholarship students were told not to book; the university arranges the room. Off-campus students register with the police within 24 hours and file an off-campus form. The Zhuhai dorm fee of 7,500 RMB a year is printed for the Zhuhai campus. Computer Science and Technology is not the Zhuhai Chinese-teaching major. Do not apply the 7,500 figure to a Beijing computing room.

The visa line on the BNU brochure is an X1, using the printed admission notice and the JW201 or JW202 form, applied for at a Chinese embassy or consulate. BLCU’s non-degree notes mention a JW202 as well, on a different page. Use the form the degree office actually sends. DragonTrail does not print it. Insurance and the precise room rate for a BNU computing student were not a single number on the brochure sections we used beyond the tuition band. Cost of Studying is the place to separate tuition from a dorm you have not been offered yet.

What To Read on the Next Computer Science Notice

Read the major name, the teaching language, the HSK level and the minimum, whether a handwritten Chinese statement is still required, whether CSCA subjects are listed on the catalog row, and whether a written mathematics test sits on top of CSCA. Then read the fee band and the application fee’s refund line. BNU’s 27,700 and BLCU’s 25,800 were both on pages we opened on 29 October 2026. They describe different intakes. A blog that averages them is not a source.

If you need data science or artificial intelligence as the major title, do not assume Computer Science and Technology covers the wording. BLCU prints those titles on neighboring rows. BNU prints Artificial Intelligence beside Computer Science and Technology in the same school. Open the row. How To Apply only orders documents. It does not know which of these two offices is reading your file. Send us the current link if you want the fee and the test sentence checked again. We still cannot sit the interview.

FAQ

Does DragonTrail enroll computer science students?

No. Beijing Normal University and Beijing Language and Culture University admit their own students. This page records what their public pages said on 29 October 2026. Find a Suitable Program does not upload a transcript.

Which tuition figure belongs to which university?

BNU’s 2026 brochure prices science, engineering, and arts majors at 27,700 RMB a year. BLCU’s entry table prints 25,800 RMB a year on the Computer Science and Technology row. Do not average them, and do not copy Tsinghua’s 100,000 RMB engineering year onto either row.

Is the BNU 2026 round still open?

No. Online application closed on 15 March 2026. Result notices were described from June 2026, and Beijing dorm booking ended on 15 August 2026. Checked on 29 October 2026, that intake has passed. Use the next brochure’s dates.

What Chinese score did these pages ask for?

BNU’s brochure asks HSK 5 with at least 180 for majors other than Chinese as a Second Language and Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages, and the HSK date must be no earlier than 1 November 2023. BLCU’s computing row also asks HSK 5 at 180, and then a written mathematics and logic exam.

Does BLCU still give a written test if I have CSCA?

The entry page requires CSCA for undergraduate applicants from fall 2026, and the computing row still prints written examinations in mathematics and logic. It does not say CSCA deletes that row. Ask the office if a later notice has removed one of them.

Why do the BLCU deadline years disagree?

The English page ties 30 June 2026 to September 2025 entry. The Chinese page ties the same June date to September 2026 entry. Both dates are in the past as of 29 October 2026. We are not choosing the English year over the Chinese year.

Is a coding short course the same credential?

No. These pages are bachelor’s major rules. A short course that does not end in the university’s graduation certificate and degree is a different product. Ask what document the end of the course produces before you pay.

What should I send you to re-check?

The live catalog row, the fee sentence, and the test sentence. We will not file the application, and we will not treat a 985 or 双一流 label as a ranking that chooses the major for you.

Compare study routes, or tell us the credential, the teaching language, and the city. Neither button admits you to a university.
