Entrepreneurship and Startups

Entrepreneurship study in China, on the CEIBS pages we could check, is a track inside the full-time MBA and a topic among electives, not a separate startup school and not a fund. Demo Day is named. Its date is not. DragonTrail does not admit founders or introduce investors.

Information checked 29 October 2026 (Asia/Shanghai).

No accelerator calendar, equity terms, or incubator address was published for us to cite. The entrepreneur track is for MBA students, inside a degree priced at RMB 488,000 for the 16-month programme. Open-enrolment titles we read did not include a dated startup course. Company access for a venture visit is unconfirmed.

At a Glance

CredentialThe MBA degree, if you are admitted to that programme and choose the entrepreneur track. Electives are courses inside a degree. There is no standalone “startup certificate” on the pages we read.
Host and facultyCEIBS MBA InnoLab is the name the FAQ uses for the entrepreneur track, on the Shanghai MBA. We did not read a faculty list or a campus address beyond the MBA’s Shanghai base.
Work experienceThe track sits inside the full-time MBA, which asks for two or more years of work and a bachelor’s degree. It is not the MiM’s minimal-experience path, and it is not open to someone who only wants a weekend.
LanguageThe MBA is taught in English. Mandarin is not required. Optional Mandarin classes exist, according to the FAQ. A founder who needs Chinese-language investor meetings is not promised that help.
CurriculumFAQ: the entrepreneur track runs from idea and business plan through Demo Day and investor introductions. Electives from Term 3 include an entrepreneurship and innovation area among about 40 electives. The list changes. We did not copy it.
Company accessInvestor introductions are described as part of the track for MBA students. No investor is named. No startup campus, lab, or customer site is confirmed for visitors. A strategy project with an unnamed company is a different MBA activity.
CertificateThe MBA degree if you finish the MBA. Demo Day is an event inside the track, not a diploma. Nothing we read says a failed venture still yields a separate credential, or that a venture is required to graduate.
ScheduleThe MBA clock: 16 months, 12-month option, start month disputed, Early Action for 2027 entry already past on 14 October 2026. Demo Day has no date on the FAQ. Do not plan a trip around it.
Employer papersMBA files can include an organisational chart and a company brochure. A founder without an employer still needs whatever the current form asks. Sponsorship is not described as required. The track is not a leave scheme and not a visa for a company you have not registered.

The Startup Path We Found Sits Inside the MBA

CEIBS’s FAQ describes two career tracks for the full-time MBA. One is professional, through the career centre. The other is an entrepreneur track through MBA InnoLab: idea generation, a business plan, Demo Day, and investor introductions. That is a structured process for people already in the degree. It is not an application portal for founders who want only the Demo Day, and it is not an equity programme. No cheque size, no equity share, and no number of investors appeared in the answer.

Electives are the other door, and they open in Term 3. The FAQ says the set of about 40 includes entrepreneurship and innovation, among AI, marketing analytics, and private equity. “Includes” is not “you will be admitted to that elective.” Caps and prerequisites were not in the paragraph. DragonTrail cannot place you in InnoLab. Admission is the MBA’s own file: bachelor’s degree, two or more years of work, and a GMAT, GRE, or CEIBS admission test.

Introductions Are Not Capital

Investor introductions, as a phrase, mean a meeting may be arranged for students in the track. They do not mean a term sheet, a valuation, or a fund that DragonTrail manages. We will not imply how often a venture is funded, because we do not have that figure and because that kind of claim does not belong on a planning page. Demo Day has no printed date, city override, or audience list. If you need to know whether family can attend, ask CEIBS. We did not see a public ticket.

The Integrated China Strategy Project is easy to misread as startup work. It is a consulting engagement with a real company for MBA students, over three months. The company is not a venture you found. It is not named. Founders who want customer discovery inside other people’s factories are in the same position as every other visitor on this cluster: company access is not confirmed, and a client list is not a door.

Who This Track Is Not For

Recent graduates with under a year of work are pointed, on CEIBS’s own FAQ, to the Global MiM, which does not describe InnoLab. The MiM has a required internship of four to eight months with unnamed hosts, a two-year double degree, and a Class of 2026 price of €59,000 plus €2,800. That internship is employment experience, not a venture studio. Senior managers looking at the EMBA have an eight-year bar and a part-time calendar. The EMBA FAQ we used does not describe Demo Day.

A weekend founder programme was not on the open-enrolment list we read. Titles there covered leadership, finance, marketing, negotiation, family business, and an AI programme whose Beijing date of 24 October 2026 had passed. Absence from that list is not proof CEIBS never teaches founders in a short format. It is proof we cannot cite a date or a fee. The MBA tuition of RMB 488,000 remains the degree’s sticker, not a startup-course sticker.

Shanghai Is the Campus, Not an Ecosystem Pass

The full-time MBA is based in 上海. On-campus single rooms are described as around RMB 3,300 a month, outside tuition. That dorm line is a housing note for MBA students, not a founder residence and not a guarantee of a bed. Textbooks, insurance, and visa costs sit outside the fee, according to the FAQ. We did not open a visa page, so a founder’s residence status is not something this page will label.

Being in Shanghai does not admit you to other people’s accelerators, universities, or customer sites. Tsinghua’s Global MBA in 北京 is a different degree, with a different price (RMB 198,000 on the October 2026 notice) and no InnoLab sentence in the materials we used. Do not merge a Beijing MBA and a Shanghai entrepreneur track into one ecosystem tour. Rank lines CEIBS prints about itself are not a reason to treat the track as a funded place.

A Company Brochure Is Not a Pitch Deck Review

The MBA application FAQ lists an organisational chart and a company brochure among supporting documents, plus two recommendations and essays. For a founder, those files describe the venture or the employer you currently have. They are not a promise that faculty will edit a pitch, and they are not a substitute for the GMAT, GRE, or CEIBS test. Early Action for the class entering in 2027 closed on 14 October 2026. Later rounds were still printed. None of them is an InnoLab-only deadline.

Employer sponsorship is not stated as a requirement for the full-time MBA. A founder paying personally should still read the 70 percent at registration rule on the fees page. Statutory educational leave rarely matches a 16-month full-time degree, and CEIBS does not claim Bildungsurlaub for this track. If an employer is seconding you to study and then return, that letter is between you and the employer. It does not create a startup visa, a shareholder agreement, or a DragonTrail investment.

Decide Whether You Need the Degree

If the goal is a structured founder track with a named Demo Day, the only description we can stand behind is the one inside the CEIBS MBA, with that programme’s experience bar, English classroom, and yuan tuition. Ask the school whether the track has a separate selection step after admission. The FAQ does not say. If the goal is a two-day workshop, we cannot cite one. If the goal is introductions to named investors next month, we cannot cite those either.

Find a Suitable Program compares study routes, not cap tables. Request Guidance can help you tell an MBA elective from an accelerator. Bring your years of work, whether you need a degree, and the city you can live in. Do not send a request that assumes a funded place or a visit to a startup campus. Neither is confirmed.

These pages were read on 29 October 2026 (Asia/Shanghai). Tuition, language rules, and application windows change, and several dates on them have already passed. A CUCAS card is CUCAS’s listing. Use the current page from the school, or from the body that recognizes educational leave, before you act.

FAQ

Does CEIBS run a startup accelerator I can join?

The FAQ describes an entrepreneur track inside the full-time MBA, through MBA InnoLab, including a Demo Day and investor introductions. It does not describe a public accelerator with its own application and its own fee. You would be applying for the MBA, which asks for two or more years of work.

When is Demo Day?

No date was on the FAQ when we read it on 29 October 2026. Do not book travel for it. Ask CEIBS if you are admitted and selected for the track. DragonTrail does not hold tickets or a guest list.

Will I receive funding?

Nothing we read offers capital, an equity share, or a cheque size. “Investor introductions” means introductions for students in the track, not a term sheet. We will not estimate how often a venture is funded. Capital is not a DragonTrail product.

Can I take only the entrepreneurship electives?

The FAQ places those electives inside the MBA from Term 3, among a changing set of about 40. It does not sell them alone. A short public startup course was not on the open-enrolment list we checked, so we will not invent its price.

Is this different from the Global MiM?

Yes. The MiM is a two-year double degree for people with little work experience, with a required internship and a Class of 2026 fee in euros. It does not describe InnoLab. The MBA entrepreneur track is for the MBA’s more experienced cohort, in English, in Shanghai.

Can the track include visits to other startups?

Not as a confirmed list. Company access outside the degree’s own unnamed project company is not established. We do not name parks, labs, or ventures. A visit needs that host’s written agreement.

What does the MBA cost if I want this track?

The 16-month MBA is printed at RMB 488,000, with disagreeing dollar glosses on CEIBS’s own pages. The track is not given a separate price. Housing is extra, with single rooms described as around RMB 3,300 a month. That is a dorm line, not a founder house.

What should a founder send DragonTrail?

Send years of work, whether you need a degree, and the language you can study in. Do not send a request for capital or for a guaranteed Demo Day seat. Find a Suitable Program and Request Guidance do not admit you to InnoLab.

Compare study routes, or tell us the credential, the teaching language, and whether an employer is sending you. Neither button admits you to a business school or books a company visit.
