How many days for Taiwan?

Taiwan is not a single-city weekend by default when Classic is the goal. Distance between Taipei, Taroko, Sun Moon Lake, and Alishan forces an honest night count — and Highlights needs more once south is in play.
Decision rule
- 3–5 nights → Taipei Essence
- 7–9 nights → Island Classic (default)
- 10–14 nights → Grand Highlights

North vs full-island chooser
If your dream photos are Taipei night markets and Jiufen lanes, choose Essence. If you want Taroko mornings and Sun Moon Lake, choose Classic. If you also want Tainan or Kaohsiung, you need Highlights nights — not a compressed “both in five days” fantasy.
HSR and transfer honesty
Taipei↔Hualien, lake↔Alishan, and south HSR links are real planning constraints. Private does not invent teleportation. Typhoon windows need east-coast and mountain buffers. Taroko-from-Taipei day trips stay exhausting.

Planning appendix
Use this appendix when you are briefing a quote on Taiwan private tours. It does not replace the day-by-day children — it keeps the conversation honest.
Questions worth answering once
- Arrival airport — TPE, TSA, Kaohsiung (KHH), or mixed Classic exit
- Nights available after jet-lag / domestic-flight buffers
- Classic island spine vs Taipei Essence priority (or Highlights + south)
- Jiufen / Yehliu / Shifen day-trip interest when Essence is in play
- Typhoon-season flexibility for east coast and mountain days
- Whether Taroko keeps a true Hualien overnight (recommended on Classic)
- Whether Penghu, Kinmen, Green Island, or Taipei layover ideas belong on a custom quote instead
- Photography needs that change overnight towns
Honesty rules we keep on every child
- privately quoted only — no published listed prices or currency tokens in public copy
- Classic remains the default island multi-stop spine; Essence stays Taipei-first
- Highlights adds south-coast depth, not a fourth commercial card
- Keep copy travel-factual — destination / island planning only
- Taroko-from-Taipei day trips stay exhausting; Classic keeps Hualien overnight
- Sun Moon Lake ↔ Alishan needs real transfer honesty
- Penghu, Kinmen, Green Island, Tainan/Kaohsiung micros stay out of this P0 wave as separate URLs (south folds into Highlights on-page)

Closing
Keep the page practical. Match nights to north vs full-island distance, protect Taroko gorge mornings and lake–mountain transfers, and send travelers to a realistic private quote instead of a thinned listicle.
Extra pacing note
Protect buffers on arrival and departure days. Taiwan HSR links, gorge weather, and mountain transfers all punish optimism. A private plan should leave margin for typhoon windows and long east–west crossings rather than stacking every scenic into the same exhausted afternoon.
