Do you actually need a private driver in Sanya?
A private driver is useful in Sanya when you are changing resorts with luggage, combining several stops or planning a day away from your hotel. If most of your holiday is at one resort, you may only need airport transfers and occasional taxis.
Start with your hotel location. Sanya Bay, Dadonghai, Yalong Bay and Haitang Bay are different pickup areas. A price or journey time quoted for one does not automatically apply to another.
For Wuzhizhou Island, a car takes you to the mainland ferry terminal. For Nanshan, it takes you to the permitted visitor drop-off. Neither booking replaces attraction tickets or transport inside the attraction.

A return transfer and a vehicle kept for the day are different services. If you only need a ride to an attraction and a ride back, ask for both options before paying for hours of waiting.
When another transport option is better
- For a holiday spent mainly at your hotel, check the hotel's transfer and shuttle options first.
- For dinner nearby or a single short journey, a taxi or DiDi may be sufficient.
- If an airport bus serves your destination and the timetable suits your arrival, compare it with a private pickup.
- For travel between Hainan cities, compare rail and the onward hotel transfer before choosing a long road journey.
Choose a private car for the parts of the trip where it solves a practical problem. You do not need to hire one for every day you are in Sanya.

Book the arrival and departure journeys, then leave your resort days free. Arrange an extra outing only when you know where you want to go. This avoids paying for a car while you are at the pool or beach.
A Nanshan day with room to pause
Make Nanshan the main visit. If you want another stop, choose one that fits the route back to your hotel. Leave room for lunch and time inside the attraction instead of judging the day only by driving distances.
Change resorts without losing the whole day
Collect your bags after checkout, visit one place that fits the route and finish at the next hotel. Tell us the number and size of your bags before selecting a vehicle. If the attraction takes most of the day, compare a direct hotel transfer with a separate outing.
Before you set off
- Confirm attraction access and any ferry arrangements before fixing the day's departure.
- A car booking does not guarantee an island sailing. If the operator changes or suspends service, agree an alternative with your coordinator.
- Include lunch, shade breaks and the return journey when planning a family day.
