Access questions
| Topic | What to confirm | Who owns it |
|---|---|---|
| Hospital path | Drop-off to the department | That facility |
| Hotel room | Lift, doorway, bathroom | That hotel |
| Vehicle | Chair size and who rides | Named supplier on a quote, if any |
| This website | Our own accessibility policy | DragonTrail |
Ask the facility and the hotel for the route you will actually use. A listing photo is not an access survey.
How do we check step-free access without trusting a photo?
Write to the international office and ask for the path from the vehicle drop-off to the department you will visit, including stairs, a ramp, and a public lift. Ask whether a companion may push a wheelchair and whether the facility lends one. Ask about an accessible toilet on that path. Save the reply. If they do not answer, assume you do not yet know, and do not book a hotel that makes the gap worse.
Ask the hotel a separate question: step-free room, roll-in shower if you need one, and a lift that reaches that floor when the service lift is closed. Elevators fail. Ask for a phone number that answers at night. Accessible transport describes a vehicle task. The public page does not name a supplier, so a quote would have to name the vehicle before you depend on it.
Our accessibility policy is about this website and our coordination, not a certificate that a Chinese campus is barrier-free. Do not treat a flat photo of a lobby as evidence. The person who needs the access should hear the facility’s answer directly, not only through a relative.
Carry the Chinese address and the phrase you need for the driver, printed large. A transfer that cannot take the wheelchair you travel with is the wrong transfer. Say the folded size and the weight in the request. We will not guess that a standard car is enough.
What to write down
- Drop-off to department, in the facility’s words
- Wheelchair: yours or theirs, and who may push it
- Hotel room and bathroom, asked separately
- Night phone if the lift fails
- Vehicle sized for the chair you will bring

Questions people ask
- We do not claim that. Ask each campus about the department you will visit.
- No. New buildings still have stairs at drop-off points and exam rooms.
- Only if a quote names a supplier and a vehicle. The service page says that supplier is not yet named.
- The person who will use the route, and whoever is booking the hotel and the car.
Talk to the medical desk
The medical desk coordinates logistics after a facility has its own plan. It does not diagnose, quote a treatment, or decide entry.
