Wanlong Ski Guide: Prioritise Time on the Mountain

Longer runs need appropriate skills

Beijing tourism identifies a long gentler route alongside Wanlong's advanced offering. A long easy-graded piste is still not a substitute for a first lesson. Give yourself two or three ski days, learn the lift layout and let mixed-ability companions ski separately before meeting for lunch. Snowmaking and grooming matter; powder is not guaranteed. Taizicheng and a planned local pickup

Editorial road allowances: 3–4 hours from PEK or central Beijing, 4–5 hours from PKX, and 1–1½ hours from Zhangjiakou Ningyuan Airport (ZQZ) if a suitable flight operates. Immigration and baggage are additional.

For Beijing–Taizicheng rail, provisionally allow 1–1½ hours on the booked service, then 20–40 minutes by road plus waiting. Confirm the exact station and pickup; historical free-shuttle times do not establish a 2026–27 service. Add winter contingency before an onward flight.

Resort-side convenience or Chongli town

Early snowmaking can support an earlier opening than some neighbours, but not full-mountain access. Check 2026–27 dates, open lifts and cancellation terms. Resort-side accommodation reduces daily gear handling; Chongli town offers other dining and lodging choices with two transfers each day.

Compare room occupancy, breakfast, included lift days, equipment and child terms. Confirm the correct beginner product, teaching language and rental return deadlines rather than assuming a package covers everything.

A three-day ski break

Arrive and fit equipment on day one without an ambitious ski commitment. Use day two for skiing and a lesson or orientation. On day three, ski in the morning only if equipment return and your booked station transfer leave a comfortable margin. A flight connection needs a larger buffer.
