The Named Mathematics Major

Mathematics and statistics in China should be read as catalog titles. Beijing Normal University’s 2026 international catalog names Mathematics and Applied Mathematics in the School of Mathematical Sciences and marks a science degree. The School of Statistics is on the catalog as its own school. We could read an HSK 5 floor of 180 for the mathematics line. We could not, in the broken table HTML, isolate a private tuition that differs from the brochure’s science band. The brochure is clear about the band: science, engineering, and arts are 27,700 RMB a year. Use that as the published band, then check the cell so a statistics row is not silently different.

The bachelor’s is four years and taught in Chinese. That is the brochure’s duration sentence for international undergraduates, not a guess about how long a proof course feels. Chinese as a Second Language and Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages may use HSK 4 at 180. Mathematics is not those majors. HSK 5 at 180, with a test date no earlier than 1 November 2023, is the line that applies. A strong calculus background does not delete it. Natural Sciences covers physics, chemistry, and the psychology average. It is not a second copy of this row.

What the Closed Mathematics File Asked

You could apply for two majors, which means two interviews if both are reviewed. The personal statement form is downloaded, printed, and handwritten in Chinese. The office refuses a typed page. Paper originals are mailed after the initial review or the process stops. The fee is 500 RMB and is not refundable. CSCA is the written exam, and the catalog chooses the subjects. After the report exists, it goes into the BNU system. There is no sentence that a Fields medal, a contest score, or an A-Level A* replaces that report.

Age, passport, and nationality are the same brochure-wide rules: 18 to 40, birth after 31 August 1986, passport beyond 31 March 2027, and the ministry’s four-year nationality and two-year residence tests where they apply, counted with entry and exit stamps through 30 April 2026. Nine months in a year counts as a year. The Chinese version of the brochure wins a conflict. None of those details survived as an open door. Online filing ended 15 March 2026. Result mail was described from June 2026. The Beijing dorm clock ended at noon on 15 August 2026.

Statistics Is Listed, and Its Cell Was Messy

The School of Statistics is named. In the catalog extract, its requirements did not separate as cleanly as physics or psychology. We will not invent an HSK exception or a private fee for statistics. Treat it as a BNU international major that still has to be read on the PDF: degree title, CSCA subjects, language, and the 27,700 or 24,000 band. If the PDF leaves statistics blank, ask bk@bnu.edu.cn rather than borrowing the mathematics sentence in full. A blank cell is a blank cell.

UIBE’s English undergraduate catalog requires CSCA Mathematics for majors such as Economics and Artificial Intelligence. That is a mathematics test used as an entrance paper for other degrees. It does not make UIBE’s 49,750 RMB economics year a mathematics degree. BLCU’s computer-science row uses a written mathematics and logic exam for computing, at 25,800 RMB, which is again a test, not a mathematics major. Keep the test and the major apart when you budget.

An Olympiad Certificate Is Not a Mathematics Offer

Tsinghua’s 2027 Zijing engineering guide lists awards from mathematics olympiads as one optional kind of academic evidence, beside transcripts and tests such as CSCA or A-Level. The program awards a Bachelor of Engineering. Tuition is 100,000 RMB a year. Using a mathematics medal to enter that program is still engineering. It does not create a place in a school of mathematical sciences, and it does not move BNU’s closed window. Engineering in China explains that guide. Do not file it because the word mathematics appears in an olympiad bullet.

Home universities sometimes want a specific course list: analysis, algebra, probability. Neither the BNU brochure nor the Tsinghua engineering guide prints that syllabus on the admissions page. Ask the department for the current plan after you know which major name is real. DragonTrail will not draft a syllabus. Recognition for teaching mathematics in your home school system is a licensing question. A Chinese bachelor’s does not answer it by itself.

Money, Housing, and Scholarships

Separate three numbers. The application fee was 500 RMB and is not refundable. The science band is 27,700 RMB a year if the mathematics row uses it. Housing was a booking window that has closed, and the brochure points to the international office for room types rather than printing one mathematics dorm rate. Zhuhai’s 7,500 RMB a year is for Zhuhai campus arrangements. Mathematics at the School of Mathematical Sciences is not the Zhuhai Chinese-teaching major. Do not use 7,500 as the Haidian room.

Scholarships named on the brochure are applied for, not assumed: BNU’s own new-student award, the Silk Road award, the Beijing government scholarship, the Chinese Government Scholarship, and the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship. Results arrive in the application system. Cost of Studying is where you add food and transport after the tuition cell is confirmed. A 双一流 label on the university’s self-description is glossary. It does not discount 27,700 and it does not rank this school against another mathematics faculty.

What To Check on the Next Mathematics Notice

Confirm the English major title, whether statistics is a separate application, the HSK floor, the CSCA subject list, the fee cell, and whether the statement must still be handwritten. Then confirm the age window, because 31 August 1986 and 1 September 2026 are 2026-file dates. A 2027 file can move the birth cutoff. Pay 500 RMB only against the new page.
