High School Study Trips
High school study trips in China remain secondary-school groups even when some students are 18. The class is one 团组 with a guardian plan. DragonTrail does not turn a graduation week into a university enrollment.
Information checked 29 October 2026 (Asia/Shanghai).
No high school in China agreed to host. Chapters 2 through 5 govern higher education, not 中等 schools. Confirm the applicable provincial requirements, school fees, and supervision arrangements with the receiving school. Article 38 still requires an agreement with the foreign sending unit and a person who acts as guardian. No DragonTrail rate card exists.

| Who this is for | High-school leaders and families comparing a short study trip with university enrollment. The trip is not an admission. |
|---|---|
| Clock | Short-term study is no more than 180 days. A graduation week does not create an X1 file. No departure date is held. |
| Money | No DragonTrail price. Article 14’s RMB list is a higher-education rule. Ask the host what it charges, and expect no number here. |
| Who decides | The sending unit and the Chinese school sign Article 38. A consulate stamps. DragonTrail does not enroll the students. |
| Papers | Agreement, guardian plan, passports, and an invitation with the Sweden note’s fields if the trip is a study tour. |
| Outcome | A secondary-school plan with unconfirmed visits. Not a 本科 offer and not a reserved dorm. |
| Easy to mix up | Treating 18-year-olds as a separate trip, or calling a campus tour an internship. |
| Worked example | A senior class asks one Chinese high school for a written agreement and keeps one guardian plan for the minors on the roster. |
| What we do not do | DragonTrail does not confirm a high school, price a graduation week, or issue JW201 or JW202. |
High School Remains Secondary Education
A high-school diploma year is still secondary education in the structure of Article 2. Chapters 2 through 5 apply to higher-education schools. Preschool, primary, and secondary schools follow provincial requirements that the receiving school must confirm. That means a high-school trip does not automatically use Article 9’s degree labels, Article 14’s RMB fee publication, or the 2021 work-study measures. Those pages describe universities and their students. Using them as the high-school rule would overclaim.
Eighteen-Year-Olds Do Not Leave the Group Rule
Some seniors are 18 and some are not. Article 38 tells the sending unit, for a primary or secondary school, to complete minor-exit paperwork and to send a guardian during the study. It also says a student under 18 whose parents are not in China needs a formally entrusted guardian. The 18-year-olds do not peel off into a separate unsupervised product on this page. If a consulate treats an adult passport differently, that is the consulate’s stamp, not a second itinerary we sell.
A Graduation Week Is Not University Enrollment
A week of classes, a museum, and a campus tour do not make a high-school student into a 本科生 or a 进修生. Article 9’s categories belong to the higher-education chapters. There is no admission notice, no JW201, and no JW202 on this page, because no university has admitted anyone. The Sweden note’s X1 and X2 lines ask for those school papers when the purpose is study over or under 180 days. A graduation tour that is only a visit is closer to the F description, and the embassy decides.
Invitation Fields Apply to Every Name Asked
If the category is a study tour, the Sweden note dated 2026/10/12 wants the invitation to carry identity, purpose, arrival and departure, places, the relationship to the inviter, the source of funds, and the inviter’s name, phone, address, stamp, and signature of the legal representative. A group leader’s name alone is not a substitute if the consulate asks for each student. DragonTrail cannot put a stamp on that page. Build the list of names before you promise families a date.
Insurance Is the Receiving School’s Question
Article 40 requires a full insurance system for international students a school admits, or the student is not admitted, and a student already studying who does not insure is withdrawn or not registered. That article sits with the higher-education rules. A high school may still demand insurance under a provincial rule or its own policy. Confirm the applicable local requirements with the receiving institution. Ask the receiving school which policy it accepts. Do not treat silence as a waiver, and do not quote a price we never saw.
No High School Host Was Confirmed
No placement or host availability is confirmed here; contact the institution before making travel arrangements. Article 29 limits religious venues and proselytizing on campus. Article 26 says schools generally do not organize military training or political activities for international students. Plan learning aims that a host can actually teach. Sample weeks in this cluster are examples only, with no request sent. DragonTrail has no graduation package, no flight, and no free teacher seat.

If a date has passed, or a line on a visa note looks incomplete, the page says so. None of this is a placement or a group visit DragonTrail can reserve, and none of it is legal advice.

FAQ
Does turning 18 remove a student from the group?
Not as a rule we can apply. Article 38 still requires the sending unit to send a guardian for a primary or secondary group. A consulate may look at an adult passport differently. That is not a second product.
Is a high-school trip a university application?
No. Article 9’s degree and non-degree labels govern higher education. A campus visit does not issue an admission notice, JW201, or JW202.
Which visa fits a graduation study tour?
The Sweden note describes F for exchanges, visits, and study tours. X1 and X2 are study with school admission papers, split at 180 days. The embassy decides. We do not.
What insurance should families buy?
Article 40 is the higher-education insurance rule, with no premium printed. A high school may set its own requirement. Ask that school. We will not quote a premium.
Are work-study jobs part of a high-school week?
No. The 2021 measures cover students at degree-teaching universities, with hour caps and a one-year enrollment line. A visiting high-school class is outside that page.
Can you reserve a partner high school?
No. No high school was asked. Article 38 needs that school’s signature with your sending unit. DragonTrail does not sign.
What goes in the invitation?
Identity, purpose, dates, places, the link to the inviter, the source of funds, and the inviter’s name, phone, address, stamp, and signature. A leader’s name alone may not be enough.
Is there a graduation package price?
No. DragonTrail has no rate card, no flight, and no free teacher place. Sample weeks are examples, not bookings.
