Faculty-Led Programs

Faculty-led programs in China are group plans in which your own professors travel with students. The professor is the 外方派遣单位’s guardian only if that unit says so. DragonTrail does not appoint the faculty lead and does not sign the agreement.

Information checked 29 October 2026 (Asia/Shanghai).

No faculty-led program was confirmed with a Chinese school. Article 38 requires the agreement before a short-term 团组 is accepted. A professor’s visa is a separate question from the students’ visas, and this page does not choose F, M, or Z. There is no DragonTrail faculty fee.

ClockThe agreement comes before the flight. Short-term study is no more than 180 days. No term date is held here.
MoneyNo DragonTrail faculty fee. Host fees, if students are enrolled, are that school’s RMB list. Request current fees and any funding terms directly from the provider; no amount is confirmed here.

What we do not doDragonTrail does not assign faculty, price their travel, or choose F, M, or Z.

Faculty Are Not Automatically the Guardian

Article 38 says that for primary or secondary groups the sending unit sends a person who acts as guardian during the study. A professor who designed the course is that person only when the sending unit appoints them. For a student under 18 whose parents are abroad, a formally entrusted guardian is still required. Appointment is a letter from the unit, not a line in a syllabus. DragonTrail will not name your colleague as guardian and will not travel as a substitute.

The Sending Unit Has to Be Able to Sign

The agreement in Article 38 is between the Chinese school and the 外方派遣单位. A professor may not have authority to bind the university. Ask counsel or the international office who may sign before anyone negotiates dates. A handshake on a campus tour is not the agreement. Short-term remains no more than 180 days under Article 45. If the home university will not sign, the Chinese school is not in a position to accept the group under that article.

Teaching for Pay Is a Different Question

If faculty will teach inside a Chinese school for pay, the activity may look like work. The Sweden note’s Z category asks for a Notification Letter of Foreigner's Work Permit, on both the over-90-day list and the under-90-day list. The cited Z reminder prints “000 days,” and that string is not a length of stay. If faculty are only accompanying a study tour, the F description may be the one a consulate considers. We do not choose. Paid teaching is not covered by pretending it is the students’ classroom.

The Agreement Names the 团组

The agreement should exist before flights. It is the Chinese school’s acceptance of a short-term group, not a DragonTrail booking code. Article 20’s teaching practice, if the students are enrolled in higher education, follows the host’s teaching plan. Your faculty syllabus can propose aims. It does not replace the host’s plan, and it does not enroll anyone. Put the names, the dates, and the learning aims in the draft the two institutions will actually sign.

Faculty Passports Still Need a Category

Each adult’s purpose has to match the sticker a consulate will consider. F invitations should include identity, purpose, dates, places, relationship, source of funds, and the inviter’s name, phone, address, stamp, and signature. M is commercial and trade. J1 and J2 on the same note are for journalists, not for professors. Do not reuse a press category. Students who are enrolled use the school’s admission papers. Students who are only visiting should not be told they hold X1.

DragonTrail Does Not Assign a Faculty Lead

We do not employ your professors, insure them, or decide their stipend. Article 14’s RMB fee list, if the host enrolls students, is the host’s publication. No premium from Article 40 was printed. No classroom was requested. The buttons on this site compare study routes or take a question. They do not sign an Article 38 agreement, file a visa, or confirm that your faculty may teach.

These pages were read on 29 October 2026 (Asia/Shanghai). A fee, an hour cap, and an application window belong to the office named in the link. If a date has passed, or a line on a visa note looks incomplete, the page says so. None of this is a placement or a group visit DragonTrail can reserve, and none of it is legal advice.

FAQ

Is the professor automatically the guardian?

No. Article 38 says the sending unit sends the person who acts as guardian for a primary or secondary group. Appointment has to come from that unit. DragonTrail does not appoint anyone.

Can a professor sign the Article 38 agreement?

Only if the sending unit has given that authority. The agreement is between the Chinese school and the 外方派遣单位. A syllabus is not a signature.

What if faculty are paid to teach?

Paid teaching can be work. The Sweden note’s Z category asks for a work-permit notification. The fetched reminder prints “000 days,” which we do not treat as a stay. A consulate decides. We do not.

Do journalists’ visa categories apply?

J1 and J2 on the Sweden note are for journalists. They are not a shortcut for faculty. Do not reuse them.

Does the home syllabus replace the host’s teaching plan?

No. Article 20, where it applies, follows the Chinese school’s teaching plan. Your aims can be a proposal. They are not enrollment and not a certificate.

Who pays the faculty?

Not DragonTrail. We have no faculty rate. If a host charges enrolled students, Article 14 says that school publishes the items in RMB.

Are under-18 students covered?

A student under 18 whose parents do not live in China needs a formally entrusted guardian, and the group still needs the agreement. Age in a university class does not delete that sentence.

Will you confirm the program?

No. No Chinese school has signed, and DragonTrail cannot sign for either side. The program stays a draft until those signatures exist.
