Vocational and Technical College Programs

A vocational or technical college program in China is a college’s own diploma route, usually a three-year 专科, and it is not a quiet version of a bachelor’s at a research university. Two public pages are the examples here: a 2025 brochure from 陕西工业职业技术学院 and a 2026 page from 江苏信息职业技术学院. DragonTrail does not offer either college.

Information checked 29 October 2026 (Asia/Shanghai).

There is no national vocational tuition on this page because the two colleges do not publish one. Shaanxi’s 8,000 RMB a year is that 2025 brochure’s tuition line, beside registration, a dormitory, books, and insurance. Jiangsu’s 2026 page describes the diploma and does not state a fee. Both are the colleges’ words, read on 29 October 2026 (Asia/Shanghai).

At a Glance

Credential专科 / specialist education and a college graduation certificate when the plan is finished. Not a 本科 and not a master’s.
Length on these pagesBoth colleges describe three years for the diploma. Each also describes a shorter Chinese course that ends in a certificate or a transcript, not the diploma.
Shaanxi 2025 tuition4,000 RMB a semester, stated as 8,000 RMB a year, on the 陕西工业职业技术学院 brochure. Registration 500 RMB a year. Do not reuse this as a 2026 national rate.
Shaanxi extrasFour-person dormitory 600 RMB a semester (1,200 RMB a year). Books 500 RMB a year. Insurance 400 RMB a semester (800 RMB a year). Those lines are part of that brochure’s cost, not optional color.
Shaanxi windows on that fileThe 2025 brochure lists a fall window of 20 April–1 July and a spring window of 10 September–10 December. Do not assume the same dates for a later intake.
Jiangsu 2026 priceNot printed. 江苏信息职业技术学院 describes a three-year Chinese-taught 专科 and a graduation certificate, and leaves tuition blank. Leave it blank.
Language on the Jiangsu pageInternational Chinese Proficiency Standard level 4, or the college’s own level-4 exam, for Chinese-taught applicants. That is not Peking University’s HSK 6 rule.
Further studyBoth pages speak of recommending students who want more study. A recommendation is not an offer from a bachelor’s university, and the Jiangsu partner is not named.

A College Diploma, Not a University Badge

Vocational-college study is the right search when the credential you need is a three-year technical diploma from the college that teaches it. It is the wrong search when an employer, a visa category, or a graduate school has asked for a bachelor’s. Order No. 42 lists 专科生 as its own degree category, beside 本科生, not as a nickname for the same award. 陕西工业职业技术学院 and 江苏信息职业技术学院 are the named examples because their public pages still describe that category in plain language.

League labels do not sort this choice. A vocational college is not “a lower 双一流,” and a research university is not “a vocational college with a famous gate.” How To Choose a University in China keeps 985, 211, 双一流, and the C9 alliance as glossary for a different decision. Use them there. Use this page to read a college’s certificate, language test, and fee lines.

What the 2025 Shaanxi Brochure Itemizes

The Xianyang brochure from 陕西工业职业技术学院 is titled as a 2025 international file. It describes three-year specialist study that includes Chinese, asks for high school, sets an age limit of 26, and asks applicants to be non-Chinese and without a criminal record. Tuition is written as 4,000 RMB a semester, which the brochure also states as 8,000 RMB a year. Registration is 500 RMB a year. A four-person dormitory is 600 RMB a semester, stated as 1,200 RMB a year. Books are 500 RMB a year. Insurance is 400 RMB a semester, stated as 800 RMB a year. Adding only the 8,000 and ignoring insurance and the bed understates the brochure.

That file’s application windows are fall, 20 April to 1 July, and spring, 10 September to 10 December. Because the file is a 2025 brochure, those dates may belong to intakes that have finished by 29 October 2026. They are not a calendar DragonTrail is opening. The college says it issues an admission notice and JW202, and that the student applies for an X1 visa with the ordinary passport and those papers. A physical examination and a police-clearance certificate, each valid for six months, are on its list. A one-semester or one-year Chinese course on the same brochure ends in a certificate, not the three-year diploma.

What the 2026 Jiangsu Page Leaves Unpriced

Wuxi’s 江苏信息职业技术学院 published a 2026 international page that names a public vocational college, high school or the equivalent, and 专科学历教育 for three years in Chinese, ending in a graduation certificate if the work is passed. It says students with excellent results receive priority when the college recommends them onward. The partner bachelor’s university is not named. Priority in a recommendation is a sentence about the college’s process. It is not a reserved seat, and it is not a DragonTrail articulation agreement.

The same page sets language at International Chinese Proficiency Standard level 4, or the college’s own exam at that level. A separate one-year Chinese course ends with a transcript and a completion certificate, which is not the diploma. Applicants under 18 need guardian documents. The college says it sends an admission notice and JW202 after review. Tuition, dormitory, and insurance are not on the text we could use. Copying 8,000 RMB from the Shaanxi brochure onto this page would invent a price 江苏信息职业技术学院 did not print.

JW202, X1, and the Under-18 File

Long specialist study follows the long-stay pattern in the Beijing municipal guide: an admission notice, JW202, an X1 visa, and a residence permit after arrival. The consulate still decides. Shaanxi and Jiangsu both describe JW202 in their own words. A February start and a September start change when the medical form’s six-month validity has to cover the visa appointment. Use the date on the notice you receive.

Age rules are also the college’s. Shaanxi’s 2025 file says 26 or under. Jiangsu’s 2026 page adds a guardian arrangement, with embassy legalization, when the applicant is under 18. DragonTrail cannot notarize that letter, book the physical exam, or tell a consulate to accept a file that is missing a stamp. How To Apply is the general document order, not a waiver of either college’s list.

A Recommendation Is Not a Bachelor’s Offer

Both colleges say they can recommend students who want further study. Read the verb. Recommend means the college may put a name forward. The bachelor’s university still sets its own language score, its own years, and its own tuition. Shaanxi’s “recommend” and Jiangsu’s “优先推荐” are not interchangeable with an admission letter. If the partner is unnamed, you do not yet know who would receive the file.

Counting year three of a 专科 as year one of a 本科 is how people lose time. Ask, in writing, whether any bachelor’s step is a guaranteed articulation or a recommendation, which university it names, and which year’s rule applies. Associate Degree Programs walks the diploma itself. This page keeps the college setting around it: the fee lines, the blank price, and the limit on what a recommendation can do.

How To Read the Next College Invoice

Hold a newer PDF up to four checks: years of study, the exact name of the certificate, the language test, and every yuan line including insurance and the dormitory type. If the PDF is still titled 2025, ask the international office whether those yuan figures are on this year’s invoice. A third-party package that quotes 8,000 RMB without the college’s current page is asking you to pay a number that may have expired.

DragonTrail can help you set that PDF beside a bachelor’s brochure so the credentials stay apart. We do not collect registration fees, dormitory fees, or insurance for these colleges, and we do not hold places at 陕西工业职业技术学院 or 江苏信息职业技术学院. Find a Suitable Program is not their seat list. The email on the college’s own brochure is the channel they named. Also ask whether insurance is billed by the semester or the year, and whether the dormitory price changes after you enter a major. A four-person room at 1,200 RMB a year is one brochure’s line, not a promise that a later file keeps the same bed. If the reply is only a chat screenshot, ask for the PDF the international office will still stand behind when you pay. Cost of Studying separates a college town’s rent from a four-person dormitory priced at 1,200 RMB a year on one 2025 file.

FAQ

Is a vocational college program a bachelor’s degree?

No. The pages we read call the diploma route 专科 or specialist education and a college graduation certificate after three years. A bachelor’s is a different category under Order No. 42. A later recommendation does not convert the diploma.

Why is 8,000 RMB not the national vocational fee?

It is the yearly tuition on one 2025 brochure from 陕西工业职业技术学院, next to registration, a dormitory, books, and insurance. 江苏信息职业技术学院’s 2026 page does not print tuition. One college’s old line is not every 专科 in the country.

Did the Jiangsu page forget the price, or is the price unknown?

On the text we used, the price is absent. That is different from a fee of zero. Until the college writes a yuan figure, do not borrow the Shaanxi number and do not let an agent fill the blank.

What Chinese test do these colleges name?

Jiangsu’s 2026 page asks for level 4 of the International Chinese Proficiency Standards, or the college’s own exam at that level. Shaanxi describes Chinese courses inside the three-year diploma. Neither page is Peking University’s HSK 6 rule for a Chinese-taught bachelor’s.

Are the Shaanxi 2025 application dates still open?

We do not know. The brochure lists 20 April–1 July and 10 September–10 December on a 2025 file. By 29 October 2026 those windows may already have been for finished intakes. Ask the college which file is current before you book a medical exam that expires in six months.

Which visa do the colleges describe?

Both describe an admission notice and JW202. Shaanxi tells admitted students to apply for an X1 visa. A three-year program is long-stay study. The consulate decides. Under-18 applicants on the Jiangsu page need extra guardian documents.

Can DragonTrail place me at either college?

No. We do not hold seats, and we do not collect the 8,000 RMB or the blank Jiangsu fee. If you want a second reading, send the current brochure and say whether you need a diploma or a bachelor’s.

What is the short Chinese course on these brochures?

Shaanxi’s one-semester or one-year Chinese course ends in a certificate. Jiangsu’s one-year Chinese course ends in a transcript and a completion certificate. Neither is the three-year graduation certificate. Check which product the invoice names.

Compare study routes, or tell us the credential, the teaching language, and the city. Neither button admits you to a university.
