Joint and Dual Degree Pathways

A joint or dual degree pathway in China is a plan two universities each agree to, and it is not one product with one price. Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (西交利物浦大学), Peking University (北京大学), and NYU Shanghai each publish their own numbers. DragonTrail is not a partner on any of them and cannot enroll you.

Information checked 29 October 2026 (Asia/Shanghai).

We did not invent a combined sticker. The 99,000 RMB year, the Liverpool pound range, the 95,000 RMB Peking University half, and NYU Shanghai’s 231,437 RMB term are what those institutions printed, read on 29 October 2026 (Asia/Shanghai). A second university’s bill is still that university’s bill.

At a Glance

What “joint” means hereTwo issuers. You need each award letter, each fee, and each rule for who grants the degree. A shared brand name is not a single invoice.
XJTLU international yearThe English fees page lists international undergraduates at RMB 99,000 per academic year. Early-bird rules on that page run to dates in 2027. Not for Hong Kong, Macao, or Taiwan students.
XJTLU 2026 mainland yearThe Chinese fees page prices 2026 new undergraduates at 99,000 RMB under 苏发改收费发[2026]560号, with credit-based charging under a 2022 provincial file. That audience is mainland recruitment, not the English early-bird page.
Liverpool halfThe Chinese page’s 2+2 note: University of Liverpool international tuition for 2026/27 is 27,000 to 32,000 GBP by program, and 2026 XJTLU entrants who leave later pay Liverpool’s 2028 international fee.
PKU dual master’sThe 2026 graduate PDF lists 95,000 RMB for the Peking University part of the PKU–LSE and PKU–Sciences Po international-relations programs. The partner’s tuition is in the partner’s prospectus.
Cornell lineThe same PDF treats Cornell dual-degree tuition as Guanghua’s part only. Cornell’s part is not a number we can copy from that row.
NYU Shanghai termThe 2026–27 portal table for students who study in Shanghai prices 12 to 18 credits at ¥231,437 per term, and one credit at ¥14,121. Housing and GeoBlue are separate lines.

Two Invoices, Not One Pathway

Joint-pathway math starts by refusing a single total. A year in Suzhou and a later year in Liverpool are different currencies, different housing markets, and different refund rules. A Peking University dual master’s that prints 95,000 RMB is describing 北京大学’s share. Adding a guessed London or Paris fee on top of that row would invent a price the PDF refused to print. NYU Shanghai’s term charge is a third pattern again: a credit band in RMB for students on the Shanghai portal, not a dual-degree discount.

Ask which institution’s name will appear on the diploma, and whether a second parchment is automatic or conditional. “Dual” sometimes means two degrees if you finish both schools’ requirements. “Joint” sometimes means one degree with two logos. The pages we read do not let us collapse those words into one legal outcome. Bring both handbooks to the same conversation, and treat a missing second number as missing, not as zero.

XJTLU’s English Page and Chinese Page

西交利物浦大学’s English admissions page states international undergraduate tuition as RMB 99,000 per academic year. The early-bird discount on that page is 10 percent when the application, the documents, and a conditional or unconditional offer are in by 31 March 2027, with deposit rules on the unconditional offer. The page says the discount does not apply to students from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan. As of 29 October 2026 that March 2027 date was still ahead. It is the university’s deadline, not a DragonTrail intake, and missing the deposit still loses the discount even if the academic file was on time.

The Chinese fees page is a different audience. It says 2026 undergraduate entrants are charged 99,000 RMB a year under 苏发改收费发[2026]560号, and that the university charges by credit under 苏发改收费发[2022]981号. It also lists dormitory lines the school collects and passes on: 2,200 RMB a year for a four-person room before major study, then 2,200 or 3,300 for a four-person room, 6,000 for a double, and 14,000 for a single, depending on the major’s housing. A 2,000 RMB yearly pass-through for books is marked refundable against actual cost. Do not paste the English early-bird calendar onto mainland 统招 students, and do not paste the 2026 mainland sticker onto a later international applicant without opening the page again.

The Liverpool Half of a 2+2

XJTLU’s Chinese page, under a 2+2 heading it marks as reference only, gives University of Liverpool international tuition for 2026/27 as 27,000 to 32,000 pounds a year, varying by program. It then says students who enter XJTLU in 2026 and choose Liverpool two years later are charged Liverpool’s 2028 international fee, not the 2026/27 range. A 10 percent reduction on Liverpool tuition applies to XJTLU students on that route. A vice-chancellor excellence award of 30 percent, for students in the top 5 percent of the major with stated averages, cannot be stacked with that 10 percent. Liverpool housing on the same note is about 170 to 220 pounds a week by room type, plus roughly 5,000 pounds a year for food and local life, marked as an estimate.

The English page states the same 10 percent Liverpool reduction for continuing students who transfer for years three and four, without reprinting the pound range. Two pages, one route, still two invoices. A pound figure from 2026/27 is not the invoice a 2026 entrant will see in 2028. DragonTrail cannot reserve a Liverpool year, convert the discount into a promise, or tell you the 2028 fee before Liverpool publishes it.

Peking University’s Half of a Dual Master’s

On Peking University’s 2026 graduate tuition PDF, the PKU–LSE and PKU–Sciences Po international-relations rows list 95,000 RMB and say that figure is the Peking University part. The partner’s tuition sits in the partner’s prospectus. The Cornell dual-degree line is handled the same way: the number printed is Guanghua’s part, and Cornell’s part is elsewhere. Using 95,000 RMB as “the cost of the dual degree” drops half the bill. Using a Chinese-taught master’s total from a neighboring row is a different program.

Those dual rows also do not admit you. A partner university still applies its own language test, its own deposit, and its own visa paperwork for the time you spend on its campus. If the PDF cell for a different degree still says the fee will be notified after approval, that blank is not 95,000 RMB. English-Taught University Programs keeps the wider English-language fee table. This page only keeps the second invoice visible.

NYU Shanghai’s Term Table

NYU Shanghai’s international-student schedule for academic year 2026–2027 prices portal students who study in Shanghai on a credit ladder. Twelve to eighteen credits are ¥231,437 per term. One credit is ¥14,121, and the steps climb until the 12-to-18 band. Nineteen credits are ¥245,558 and twenty are ¥259,679 on that same table. This is NYU Shanghai’s published term charge for that portal. It is not a joint-degree package DragonTrail sells, and it is not the price of a semester at 北京大学.

The same schedule splits other costs. GeoBlue health coverage is ¥15,174 for 1 August 2026 through 31 December 2026, and ¥21,243 for 1 January 2027 through 31 July 2027. A book estimate is ¥3,375. Jinyao housing runs from ¥18,250 for a triple studio to ¥47,433 for a premium single, per term. The 2027 J-term line is ¥28,242, while the older 2026 J-term line on the 2025–26 schedule was ¥28,709. Quote the year that matches the term you will actually attend. An earlier US-dollar cost-of-attendance page was not the table we used.

How To Read a Pathway Before You Pay

Read a joint pathway in this order: the credential each school will issue, the campus where each year is taught, the currency of each invoice, and what happens if you stop after the first school. XJTLU’s name is not 西安交通大学. The C9 alliance member and the Suzhou university that publishes a Liverpool 2+2 are different institutions with different fee pages. Mixing them up is how a 99,000 RMB year gets compared with a league label that does not set the price.

DragonTrail can sit with you while you line the pages up. We cannot submit either application, hold a deposit, or merge two scholarships into one award. Universities and Schools keeps league labels as glossary. Cost of Studying is where housing and daily spend sit beside tuition. If a third-party quote shows one number for “the joint degree,” ask which of the two invoices it replaced.

FAQ

Is a joint degree one tuition bill?

Not on the pages we read. XJTLU prices its own year, Liverpool prices the later years, and Peking University’s dual-degree rows are labeled as the PKU half. Budget both issuers before you compare the pathway with a single-school degree.

Is 99,000 RMB the XJTLU fee for every student?

It is the international undergraduate year on the English page, and the 2026 new-undergraduate standard on the Chinese page under a provincial price file. Discounts, credit-based charging, and dormitory lines change the cash you pay. Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan students are excluded from the English early-bird discount.

Does the March 2027 early-bird date mean a DragonTrail intake is open?

No. 31 March 2027 is XJTLU’s own early-bird condition on the English page we opened on 29 October 2026, together with an offer and a deposit. DragonTrail does not run that round and does not take the deposit.

Can I add Liverpool’s 27,000 pounds to the 99,000 RMB and call it the degree price?

That sum would mix a 2026/27 Liverpool reference range with a Suzhou year, and it would ignore the Chinese page’s warning that 2026 XJTLU entrants later pay Liverpool’s 2028 international fee. Keep the invoices separate and dated.

Does 95,000 RMB cover the LSE or Sciences Po year?

Peking University’s 2026 PDF presents 95,000 RMB as its own part of those dual master’s programs and points to the partner prospectus for the rest. Do not treat 95,000 RMB as London tuition or Paris tuition.

Is NYU Shanghai’s 231,437 RMB a full year?

On the 2026–27 schedule it is the per-term charge for 12 to 18 credits for portal students studying in Shanghai. A second term, housing, and GeoBlue are extra lines. One credit on that table is ¥14,121, which is not a US semester-hour price.

Are these universities DragonTrail partners?

No. The figures are theirs, retrieved on 29 October 2026. We do not hold seats at 西交利物浦大学, 北京大学, NYU Shanghai, Liverpool, LSE, Sciences Po, or Cornell, and a page on this site is not an application.

Where should I compare a single-school degree instead?

Use the bachelor’s, master’s, and English-taught guides for one issuer’s fee, and the choosing guide for league labels and publisher rankings. Come back here only when a second university will also bill you.

Compare study routes, or tell us the credential, the teaching language, and the city. Neither button admits you to a university.
