Film and Storytelling Workshops
Film and storytelling workshops in China were not opened as a production program on 29 October 2026. The cinema line we can cite is a CET class, SH/FILM 370, and that class is not a shoot.
Information checked 29 October 2026 (Asia/Shanghai).
SH/FILM 370 is a classroom elective, not a production workshop, and Beijing Film Academy was not opened. No shoot calendar exists on the pages we read. DragonTrail enrolls nobody.
At a Glance
| Who this is for | A student comparing a credit elective about cinema with a workshop that would put people on a set. Those are different contracts. This page keeps them apart. |
|---|---|
| The class we can name | CET Shanghai lists SH/FILM 370, Contemporary Chinese Cinema. It is 3 credits, taught in English, and not offered every term. It is not a film set. |
| School not opened | Beijing Film Academy was not opened. We do not describe its majors, its fees, or its intake. A cinema elective at another host is not that academy. |
| Storytelling nearby | SH/LITR 380, Chinese Literature Today, is also on CET’s list. It is a literature elective. It is not a writers’ room and not a documentary workshop. |
| LTL’s list | LTL Beijing does not name film. Its add-ons are pottery, calligraphy, cooking, tai chi, kung fu, Beijing opera, a tea house, badminton, and ping pong. |
| No shoot calendar | Nothing we opened prints call times, locations, or a crew list. Past CET cohorts in Xi’an, Guizhou, or Yunnan are not this term’s shoot. |
| Host and fee | The semester that contains the cinema elective is CET’s term at 东华大学, printed at USD 19,690. That figure is tuition and housing for the term, not a production budget. |
| Internship line | CET lists an internship elective of 120 hours that needs proof of university enrollment for the whole term. The page does not make that internship a film set. |
| What we do not do | DragonTrail enrolls nobody, does not book a camera crew, and does not turn 电影 class hours into a workshop. A shoot stays undescribed until a host prints one. |
A Cinema Elective Is a Class
Film on the page we can cite is SH/FILM 370, Contemporary Chinese Cinema, inside CET’s Shanghai semester. The elective is 3 credits and taught in English. CET says electives are not offered every term, so a code on the page is not a promise that the next term will run it. The host university printed there is 东华大学. DragonTrail does not teach the class and does not enroll you in it. Calling this elective a storytelling workshop would add a studio, a crew, and a production calendar that the page does not contain.
Storytelling, as a second word in the title, does not create a second product. SH/LITR 380, Chinese Literature Today, sits on the same elective list and is also 3 credits and English-taught, and it is also not offered every term. It is a literature class. Reading contemporary writing is not a pitch session, not a screenwriting room, and not a documentary lab. If a host later runs a true production workshop, that host has to print the workshop. We will not promote a literature elective into one.
- SH/FILM 370 is a cinema class, not a set and not a crew.
- SH/LITR 380 is a literature elective, not a storytelling workshop.
Beijing Film Academy Was Not Opened
Beijing Film Academy’s pages were not opened on 29 October 2026. We did not open its admissions page, so this guide does not name a major, a fee, a language of instruction, or an intake month for that academy. A sentence that treated CET’s elective as a side door into the academy would be false. The elective is CET’s class, on CET’s term, at 东华大学. Those proper names have to stay attached to the product they actually label.
LTL’s Beijing language page, checked for a film extra, does not name film. The add-ons it does name are pottery, calligraphy, cooking, tai chi, kung fu, Beijing opera, a tea house, badminton, and ping pong. Beijing opera on that list is not a film course and not an acting conservatory. The sample week varies, and a sample outing is not a shoot day. We do not convert a language school’s afternoon into 电影 production because the city is associated with cinema.
- No Beijing Film Academy fee or intake is quoted, because that site was not opened.
- LTL’s add-on list does not name film, and a sample outing is not a shoot.
The Elective List We Actually Read
CET’s English-taught electives, as printed for Shanghai, also include SH/HIST 350, Shanghai: A Modern History; SH/URBN 353, Globalization and the Chinese City; and SH/EAST 245, Chinese Food, Culture, and Identity. Each is 3 credits. None of them is a film workshop, and none of them is offered every term. The cinema code is one choice on that list, not a major by itself. Politics and foreign policy are also named among the areas on the page we read. We do not invent course codes for those two areas, and we do not pretend they are production modules.
An internship elective of 120 hours is on the same CET page. It requires proof that you are enrolled at a university for the whole term. The page does not say the hours are spent on a film set, in an edit suite, or with a broadcaster. Treating the 120 hours as a production placement would invent an employer. Recommended preparation on the semester page is a GPA of 3.0, age 18 or older, and a US college. Those notes belong to CET’s term. They are not a film school’s entrance exam, and DragonTrail does not apply them to a workshop we never saw.
- The cinema elective is one 3-credit choice, not a film major and not offered every term.
- The 120-hour internship needs proof of enrollment and is not described as a film set.
No Shoot Calendar Was Printed
No call sheet sits beside SH/FILM 370. The pages we opened do not name a shoot date, a location permit, a camera package, or a person who directs students. Past traveling-seminar cohorts visited Xi’an, Guizhou, and Yunnan. That sentence is about past cohorts. It is not this term’s destination, and it is not a film unit moving between those cities. A reader who wants a production schedule will not find one here, because the host did not print one on the page we read.
The only timed workshop page opened the same day was at 乐天陶社 in Jingdezhen, and it is clay. Workshops there are three hours, with no set schedule, and they include English translation. The page says the prices are estimates that change on 1 November. We read it on 29 October. A three-hour ceramics session is not a film shoot, not a story lab, and not a substitute calendar. It does show the difference: when a host runs a short practical session, the host’s page says so. The cinema elective’s page calls itself a class.
- Xi’an, Guizhou, and Yunnan in CET’s past seminar are not a shoot schedule.
- A three-hour Jingdezhen ceramics session is not a film workshop.
The Semester Fee Is Not a Production Budget
CET’s Shanghai semester is printed at USD 19,690. The page splits that into USD 15,752 tuition and USD 3,938 housing. CET’s own estimates beside the fee are airfare of USD 1,500 to 2,000, meals of USD 2,725, and personal expenses of USD 600. Those lines pay for the term at 东华大学, including whatever courses you are actually enrolled in. They do not pay a crew, rent a location, or buy a camera package. A production budget was not printed, so this page does not invent one.
Fall arrival 26 August 2026 had already passed on 29 October 2026. Spring arrival is printed as 17 February 2027. The printed deadline of 1 November had not yet passed on the day we read the page. It is still CET’s deadline, on CET’s portal, and CET says fees can change without notice. Housing is a local roommate, 2 per room. That roommate is housing. The roommate is not a line producer and not a permit to film. A transcript, if the term is completed under CET’s rules, is joint with CET and 东华大学, or uses the University of Minnesota as school of record. The transcript records courses, not a festival screening.
- USD 19,690 covers the printed tuition and housing split, not a film budget.
- The spring deadline had not passed on 29 October 2026, and fees can still change.
What a Host Would Still Have to Confirm
A real film or storytelling workshop would have to say who teaches, how many hours are in the room, whether any hours are on a set, what language is used, and what you may keep of the work. None of that was printed for a production workshop on 29 October 2026. SH/FILM 370 tells you it is an English-taught elective of 3 credits, not offered every term. That is the whole practical description we can repeat. Questions about equipment, locations, and credits on a finished film stay unanswered until a host writes them down.
Guidance from DragonTrail can only repeat that boundary. Name the month, the city you can live in, and whether you need a credit term or a short class. Say if teaching must be in English. Do not send a script for us to produce, and do not treat this page as an application to Beijing Film Academy. The buttons open a route explainer and a study-stay plan. They do not submit you to CET, and they do not reserve a seat in SH/FILM 370. Enrollment, if it happens, is CET’s act on CET’s portal. DragonTrail enrolls nobody.
- Hours, language, and what you may keep have to be printed by the host that runs the work.
- This page is not an application to CET or to Beijing Film Academy.

FAQ
Is SH/FILM 370 a production workshop?
No. On the CET Shanghai page it is an English-taught elective of 3 credits, Contemporary Chinese Cinema, and it is not offered every term. The page does not print a shoot calendar, a crew, or a set. It is a class inside a semester at 东华大学.
Did you open Beijing Film Academy?
No. Beijing Film Academy was not opened on 29 October 2026. This page does not quote its majors, fees, or intake. CET’s cinema elective is not a place in that academy, and DragonTrail does not enroll you in either.
Is the literature elective a storytelling lab?
No. SH/LITR 380, Chinese Literature Today, is a literature elective on the same CET list. It is 3 credits, taught in English, and not offered every term. A literature class is not a writers’ room and not a documentary workshop.
Does LTL Beijing add a film class?
Not on the list we read. LTL names pottery, calligraphy, cooking, tai chi, kung fu, Beijing opera, a tea house, badminton, and ping pong. Film is absent. The sample week varies, and a sample outing is not a shoot.
Are past seminar cities a film itinerary?
No. CET says past traveling-seminar cohorts visited Xi’an, Guizhou, and Yunnan. That is a report about earlier groups. It is not this term’s destination and not a moving film unit. No shoot dates were printed beside those city names.
Does the 120-hour internship put me on a set?
The page does not say that. CET’s internship elective is 120 hours and needs proof you are enrolled at a university for the whole term. It does not name a film employer, an edit suite, or a broadcaster. We will not invent one.
Does USD 19,690 include a production budget?
No. That figure is CET’s semester fee, split on the page into USD 15,752 tuition and USD 3,938 housing. Airfare, meals, and personal costs are separate estimates CET prints. None of those lines is a camera package or a location fee.
What should I ask before treating this as a workshop?
Ask the host who teaches, whether any hour is on a set, what you may keep, and whether the elective is actually running that term. Tell us only the city, the month, and whether you need credit. DragonTrail does not enroll you and does not produce a film.
